Willingham is the worstWillingham was totally unlikable and brought nothing but shame and disappointment
At least Lake was an assistant here and helped out a lot of DB’s get to the league. -
Jimmy is the worstI think if we just look at the results in a vacuum based on the situations they inherited, the expectations going into season 2, and how the final product compared to those expectations then Lake is worse rather easily.

Jimmy is the worstJimmy is worse because he managed to derail the program that was full of good recruits. We also had expectations this year
Willingham had neither -
Jimmy is the worst

Willingham took a bad team and took it to 0-12.
Jimmy took a team Phil Steele said was a dark horse for the playoffs and lost to Montana. And the reason we lost to Montana is because he hired JonDon to run his outdated offense. And it was Kent Baer (Willingham's old DC) at Montana that shut us out for 57 minutes. -
Willingham is the worstIt’s not even close. Lake did a lot for this program and just isn’t a good head coach.
It should be is Jen worse than Todd?

Are we talking playing golf or coaching football?

Jimmy is the worstLake had it way easier, Pete built everything AND Lake had the benefit of the covid excuse while he got his feet under him in the first year.
A dead fucking bat could have willed this team to 4-6.
Tyrone Willingham won 5 games in a season, something Lake never achieved. -
Jimmy is the worstJimmy in internets age < (err, worse) Willingham in the dark ages. Jimmy's dirty laundry is more visible and kids these days don't like being thrown into lockers or terrorized on national television. Now if Petersen hadn't expelled Marcus Peters, these players could have defended themselves and we could have avoided the Jimmy's shite show.

Jimmy didn't win multiple Rose Bowls at Stanford or be Coach of the Year at Notre Dame
More was expected of Ty and less was received. And he got 4 years
Gilby was worse than both of them as was Lambo. Talk about being handed the keys to a Lambo -
Gilby was the worst.
If Jimmy had been given another year he might have passed him. -
He was on the 6-6 to 2-10 trajectory if he could get 6-6 this yeardnc said:Gilby was the worst.

Up to Big Game Bob to get those two wins now

Jimmy is the worstAt least ty had the decency to play golf all day and not care. Jimmy thought his shit does not stink
-
Jimmy is the worstWillingham sucked, but Jimmy sucked with purpose

I'm thankful that Jimmy made this quick and easy. I though he would, at least, be an average corch capable of sticking around for 3 to 4 years with 7- 9 wins per year mediocrity.RaceBannon said:Jimmy didn't win multiple Rose Bowls at Stanford or be Coach of the Year at Notre Dame

Willingham is the worstThis was a tough choice. I think my decision was based on having to endure 4 years of Ty Willy back when I actually cared about the team. It wasn't just him, either. Douchehelmet Turner was enabling him and he was allowed to stick around and bring us 0wen. He often bristled when challenged. He was no less arrogant than Jimmy. All his comportment bullshit was also tiresome.
Anyway, this is a clear case of abundance. They are equally terrible IMHO.
Onward and upward (maybe). -

Yeah, I just assumed Willingham vs, Lake was a semifinal match with the loser advancing to face Gilbertson for all the marbles.

Willingham is the worstJimmy knew all the players names

For the record, HFC Willingham was a better recruiter than HFC Lake.HuskyJW said:Willingham was totally unlikable and brought nothing but shame and disappointment

Jimmy is the worstI think it's tough to compare since Jimmy never even coached a full season. But I like to guess how this program would look after year four under Jimmy and would conclude it would mirror Ty. given the talent level Jimmy had to start with vs Ty, puts Jimmy over the top.

James left it better than he found it.
Lambo left it worse.
Slick Rick ... flip a coin.
Gilby left it much worse.
Willingham, well it was the same pile of shit when he left.
Sark left it better
Petersen left it better.
Lake, left it (arguably?) worse than what Pete inherited fom Sark — in less than 2 years.

Willingham is the worstIf Jimmy was given more tim, he might have surpassed Willingham.
But Willingham was worse because he was actively contemptuous of winning football and the people who gave a shit about the program. And he knew how to butter his bread with the administration to keep him around as long as possible. Just a conniving snake of a human who willfully tanked this program.
Jimmy is just a reckless dumbass. He has no tact, is hilariously inept at playing the politics that are needed in this profession, and made himself very disposable because of it. If only Willingham had made himself that disposable. -

This is an odd way of looking at it because it basically makes Willingham neutral and Sark positive when the reality is any average coach would have done much better starting with what they started with.FireHisAssNOW said:James left it better than he found it.

It's not hard to go from bad to mediocre. Ty couldn't even do that. Sark managed it.
That's not success though. -
Jimmy is the worst
That's an insult to Helfrich. Even without Mariota I think he would've kept the machine going for a few years. Losing Aliotti and promoting Pellum was when the wheels started to fall off.greenblood said:

Willingham is the worstAs bad as Jimmy's trajectory was, I can't imagine him ever pulling off 0-12

Think of our? plight if Jimmy doesn't lose to Montana and doesn't pop off with dumb shit. Then we're stuck with the guy for another year, at least.
If a coach is going to fail - and Iron Law says this is more likely than not - best to get to the firing part early.
TYFYS Coach Lake. -
Jimmy is the worstStrictly from a Head Coach perspective it would be Jimmy. As others have mentioned he inherited a decent program with a good amount of talent. Yet he drove it straight off a cliff. It was even evident last year but we had a couple miracle wins that saved his ass. Jimmy did a lot of good here but he was a monumental failure as a HC.
Plus Ty gave us this:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SxUIczVCsnA
