I went to the game and this is what I observed

2. Oregon clearly gives a shit about this rivalry and it is a rivalry even though I don't understand why they would think that.
3. The crowd that was there wanted this game badly. The lunatic fringe are the people buying tickets and not selling them to Ducks, Jen, you dipshit.
4. I counted two Go Huskies chants, my dad(s) thought there might have been a third that didn't take off.
5. After the fucking decision to punt on 4th and 10 I looked at an organization that cares about winning and another that doesn't and I felt bad for the players that committed to UW with the goal of playing for PAC-12 championships and beyond and instead they are a part of a rudderless outfit that has no leadership and is wasting their talents. Fuck this AD.

The players deserve competent coaching.

There are a lot of likeable players on this team but the staff is failing them no doubt,

Halfway competent coaching this year with this soft schedule in this soft conference goes 10-2 and plays Utah for the title.wobidbus said:There are a lot of likeable players on this team but the staff is failing them no doubt,

Yeah was surprised to hear so few chants... even by us.wobidbus said:1. It rained.

Even after winning 15 of last 17 most in blowout fashion, their team and fans are still very motivated to beat UW and that's still why it's called Husky Hate Week the second the game before ours is over which they can't wait to get to.
I'm glad Phil Knight didn't decide to buy every avail ticket on the secondary market and give them to any Zero fan that wanted them, or it would have been almost a 50/50 crowd minus student section and they would have had a Green Out in their Rivals Stadium.
Would that still qualify us for "The Greatest Setting" award, and are we still in the doog "big boy program" club of CFB if that happens.....

It used to piss me off so much when we lost to you, but now I am unfazed by it. If a Husky fan bitches about Huck the Fuskies, W down, dancing on the W, talkin shit, taking over Husky Stadium etc to me, I just tell them if you don't like it, give money to the AD, show up be loud, and hope your team starts winning the games on the field.godawgst said:Even after winning 15 of last 17 most in blowout fashion, their team and fans are still very motivated to beat UW and that's still why it's called Husky Hate Week the second the game before ours is over which they can't wait to get to.

I get weather and record, but tonight's attendance for a rivalry game was embarrassing.

The call to punt really wasn't that bad of an idea. If you get stuffed there Oregon runs the clock way down and kicks a FG at worst and it's 100% over. If the punt is executed there is at least a chance left if Oregon goes 3 and out.
I get it looked soft and when it turned into a safety it was knives out. Overall it wasn't a bad decision. -
It was a terrible decision and one that screams “I quit”.GhostofMosster47 said:The call to punt really wasn't that bad of an idea. Wtf? At best, you get a three and out and if the punt is a touchback, you have maybe 15 seconds to go 80 yards. Is that better than attempted a 4th and 10 then having 1:45 on the clock?GhostofMosster47 said:The call to punt really wasn't that bad of an idea. I am convinced jimmy wanted the moral victory of saying we played Oregon to a one score game and look how close we are. I am also convinced he would like to be fired so what do I know?CFetters_Nacho_Lover said:

I saw fans including me, leaving the stadium in droves at the end of the 3rd qtr and we were down by one one score. We decided if we saw Morris walk out on that field again we were gone, earliest I have left a game in my lifetime.wobidbus said:1. It rained.

It didn't just look soft, it was surrender. Oregon was averaging about 6 yards a carry up the middle. WTF are you talking about?GhostofMosster47 said:The call to punt really wasn't that bad of an idea. If you get stuffed there Oregon runs the clock way down and kicks a FG at worst and it's 100% over. I am so glad I didn't go because the outcome would have been getting in a fight with a Quook fan, jumping off the upper deck, or screaming Fire Lake until I passed out....instead I layed on my cheeto stained couch with really high blood pressure...win....win...

The decision to punt was 100% to say “we kept it kinda close at least”.
Pure cowardice -
100%. It was making a decision for selfish purposes rather than anything it takes to win on behalf of the team, the program.thechatch said:The decision to punt was 100% to say “we kept it kinda close at least”.

Anyone happen to notice how animated Lake was on the goal line play as time was expiring after the 54th review? Pretty obvious that was Lake thinking about Lake. -
Still lose to Montana and Michigan, though.DerekJohnson said:

Don't understand estimate the chance that Moorhead would have called for a backwards pass and the ball is scooped and scored. He tried earlier.DerekJohnson said:

Cristobal was shoving the ball down Lake’s throat.
Punting with under 2:00 to play down 8 was a fucking surrender. It’s not really up for discussion. -
It was also ego... "I'd rather lose 24-16 than 31-16"thechatch said:The decision to punt was 100% to say “we kept it kinda close at least”.

Yeah and how the fuck do you explain that to your lockeroom?DerekJohnson said:

No need to explain anything. The players have known for a long time that Jimmy has a puffy little ginage between his supple thighs.thechatch said:

Absolutely. Lake wanted to go into his weekly sit down or phone call with Cohen and reiterate how close they are to winning bigly. Don't pay attention to the game flow, or the stats, or the empty seats, they were close.DerekJohnson said:

Peterman probably loses this game and Michigan and I would be just as pissed but
I sat behind two ducks (fuck my seat neighbors who sold them those tickets) and they weren't ready to relax until the punt-safety fiasco. Nice guys from outside the US who had never been to a football game before.Goduckies said:

Race Porter is your best player. With Bobby Williams’ special teams unit out there in a monsoon, it wasn’t the worst decision

I don't know the time stamp, pretty certain there was more time, but I remember Pete opted to punt late in the Rose Bowl and I was beyond furious, but it somehow worked out with us getting it back, scoring and attempting an onside.
Have a feeling Jimmy was channeling that memory, but as someone pointed out, we would have had 20 seconds maybe.
Would have to look back at the time when Pete made that decision. -
Found the sequence. Had more time and we were still down 2 scores. Not quite apples to apples

My friend and I that were watching that game at a bar and were cracking up and were riffing about that decision to punt was gonna win UW the game. The funniest part was watching the Ohio State fans in the bar take us seriously.Doogles said:I don't know the time stamp, pretty certain there was more time, but I remember Pete opted to punt late in the Rose Bowl and I was beyond furious, but it somehow worked out with us getting it back, scoring and attempting an onside.

My buddy (not a UW fan) : “Watch Ohio State will fumble this punt and this will be hailed right up there with the Statue of Liberty play for greatest moments in Petersen’s coaching career.”
Me: “Great call Petersen, great call baby! Bring out the punt team. Let’s boom this one! Muffed punt coming right up.”
Me to the Buckeyes fans by us: “Get ready fellas. This is it. The most crucial play of the game.
One Buckeyes fan tried explaining why it was the wrong call.
My buddy: “Listen man, this is Chris Petersen we are talking about. He’s not checked out like Urban Meyer.” We didn’t know Pete definitely was at the time.
Me : “We playing checkers not chess out here.”
After it was over, the Ohio State fans kept seriously trying to question and reason with us about the punt. We kept it going and joking about UW being in the running for the #1 HS punter in the country. My buddy : “Yeah, I’ve heard about him. Isn’t he a 5 star? Me : “No, I think he’s only a 4.” I asked an Ohio State fan if he could look it up for me. He tells me he can’t find that punter.
Me : “ if we get this punter, I think we could be a preseason top 5-10 team.”
My buddy : “there is no doubt. Special teams are very important.”
The Ohio State fans took about 5 minutes talking about how the game was basically over at halftime and naming off some stats and big plays.
Me : “Guys I respect your opinions, but I’ve watched UW all season and this punter was a problem. Definitely the Achilles heel of the team. How many UW games you watch this year? Maybe 1 or 2? That’s what I thought. It was the right call to put the ball in the punter’s hands, but the execution just wasn’t there.”
Ohio State fans keep taking it seriously and we are kind of still playing along. “That’s your guys’ opinion. You got the Scarlett and grey colored glasses on. I actually have watched a lot of games this year. Seen a lot of muffed and fumbled punts.”
Eventually my buddy was shaking his head at these idiots and laughing so hard that he ended up telling them to stop because we were fucking with them the whole time.
