throw money at the big names and then talk to the mid major guys (most of whom I've never heard of)

    internal hires are usually stupid

You realize the starting point was the worst FBS program in the country, right? He won more game every year until he was the Sun Belt conference champion. He was fired because of rash of injuries to star players and in the Sub Belt where you can’t recruit depth, that’s a problem.

FIU fans said his firing was a huge mistake. That team literally had no facilities.
Also, Jed Fisch likely goes 1-11 this year. Is he a bad coach? I think not.

    27-47. Much wow.

The point is good coaches can come from anywhere, even ones that have been shit previously (like Cristobal). Armchair AD @FremontTroll thinks we can get Urban Saban and that UW is above getting Sitake or DeBoer. Those guys must be amateurs because they're at BYU and Fresno State. UW would never stoop so low as to hire a coach from BYU, Fresno State, or Boise State. This is THEE University of WASHINGTON. Coaches at those types of schools are peasants and could never fit in with a program of UW's incredible prestige.

I'm not here to debate whether Cristobal was or was not a good coach at Florida International. Sorry I hit that button. If you read what I was saying, the point was that good coaches can come from anywhere. FCS, Big Sky, BYU, position coaches, NFL, ones that were shitty earlier, idgaf. I was actually implying that Oregon's coach is good. Keep your eyes open, it's a jungle out there.

Took over an 0-12 program who’s Coaches offices were FEMA portable trailers. Got them to 8-5, best season in that awful program's history to that point. Took a step back the following year and got canned by an AD who didn’t like that Mario threw him under the bus by calling out how the AD wasn’t committed to funding a winning program.
Saying that Cristobal was not a household name and did not have a great track record as an HC before proving himself at Oregon as an example of a good coaching hire has really thrown the Duck fans for a loop.

He’s recruiting well. He seems to evaluate well and recruit hard.

    The culture is getting better.

For the money, he assembled a good staff.

The team plays well against expectation.

I expect Arizona to level up under him. That is a helluva a rebuild, so Arizona needs to be patient.

You said “trash as a hc”…which is incorrect. And anyone who casually followed cfb knew who he and TY Hilton were in 2011 (and he was a common name for job openings) and the reaction was wtf when he got fired the following year.

If rolling my eyes at Fremont's haughtiness towards successful lower-level coaches and your dumbshit advanced metrics comment = meltdown, we all should be melting.

What are the key metrics then?

Can't reply to the correct post? Combined with your clueless statement I see that your Dumbfuck of the Day title remains unchallenged.

Still waiting on @FremontTroll 's suggestions. Edge of my seat shit. The tension is palpable.
Doesn’t matter which post I replied to- the statement holds true with everything you’ve posted in this thread. Still doog cock sucking dribble.

You shouldn’t have come back. Things were better without…

    27-47. The prosecution rests.

If you can't see that this was in response to FremontTroll's requirement for top-shelf coach with a big name, which Oregon didn't even have, I can't help you.

I know it's hard to have people question your intelligence, but this is how you get stronger. Hang in there, kiddo.

I like coaches from smaller schools with track records of success. You just picked shitty ones.

Deboer or Sitake would be OK but that’s the bottom of the list not the top.

The rest of your names aren’t even in the right universe.

I was simply making a list of successful low-level coaches out west. It wasn't an exhaustive list of Big Ern's desires like you think it was. Of course I would prefer Matt Campbell. It ain't happening. I'm looking at realistic replacements. Who would you be happy with? Chip Kelly? I'm waiting to hear what amazing options you have in mind because there's a very very short list of top-shelf coaches in D1 and they ain't coming to UW. Once you get down to the James Franklin/Jim Harbaugh tier, I would rather go with DeBoer or Sitake (as long as they could recruit at a high level). I would also take Petersen back over most options.
