If Lake is fired, who’s in the candidate pool?

throw money at the big names and then talk to the mid major guys (most of whom I've never heard of)
internal hires are usually stupid -
Also, Jed Fisch likely goes 1-11 this year. Is he a bad coach? I think not.lawsandl said:
You realize the starting point was the worst FBS program in the country, right? He won more game every year until he was the Sun Belt conference champion. He was fired because of rash of injuries to star players and in the Sub Belt where you can’t recruit depth, that’s a problem.CallMeBigErn said:

The post was framed around being realistic you dipshit. Not sure what your pie in the sky expectations are. Cristobal himself was a no-name hire that was trash as an HC previously. Okay, cherry-pick the example that doesn't make sense to you. I'm throwing it out there. Being a first-time OC for Whittingham is much different than being a HC. You know that. Taylor is doing very well at Sac State. Not saying he's my top choice by any means, but I wouldn't use his Utah first-time OC experience and Britain Covey's deaths as barometers for his HC abilities.AtomicDawg said:
Ffs Troy Taylor was run out as the OC at Utah and you want to consider him at Uw? Top? options: Sitake, DeBoer, Matt Entz (North Dakota State HC, least west coast ties of all listed here)
Slightly under the top? options, but an argument could be made: Choate, Troy Taylor (Sac State HC and passing game savant. Could be good for Huard), Aaron Best (EWU HC), Brent Vigen (Montana State HC, took over for Choate, first year HC)

You’re a doog and then come up with a list that doesn’t include nick saban.
Did you get some perspective on your sabbatical?
The point is good coaches can come from anywhere, even ones that have been shit previously (like Cristobal). Armchair AD @FremontTroll thinks we can get Urban Saban and that UW is above getting Sitake or DeBoer. Those guys must be amateurs because they're at BYU and Fresno State. UW would never stoop so low as to hire a coach from BYU, Fresno State, or Boise State. This is THEE University of WASHINGTON. Those coaches are peasants.
FIU fans said his firing was a huge mistake. That team literally had no facilities. -

I'm not here to debate whether Cristobal was or was not a good coach at Florida International. Sorry I hit that button. If you read what I was saying, the point was that good coaches can come from anywhere. FCS, Big Sky, BYU, position coaches, NFL, ones that were shitty earlier, idgaf. I was actually implying that Oregon's coach is good. Keep your eyes open, it's a jungle out there.lawsandl said:

Saying that Cristobal was not a household name and did not have a great track record as an HC before proving himself at Oregon as an example of a good coaching hire has really thrown the Duck fans for a loop.ntxduck said:

The culture is getting better.
For the money, he assembled a good staff.
The team plays well against expectation.
I expect Arizona to level up under him. That is a helluva a rebuild, so Arizona needs to be patient.

You said “trash as a hc”…which is incorrect. And anyone who casually followed cfb knew who he and TY Hilton were in 2011 (and he was a common name for job openings) and the reaction was wtf when he got fired the following year.CallMeBigErn said:
