Perfect Time to go to Sam

Look at the next four games:
-@Arizona
-@Stanford
-Oregon
-ASU
You could ease Sam into the starting role against one of the worst FBS teams in recent memory. Then you can see what he has against our remaining three decent-good opponents.
If, by some miracle, he goes 4-0 or even 3-1 and UW has a chance at making the championship game- then you burn the redshirt and keep playing him.
If, as is likely, he goes 1-3 or 2-2 then you hang up his cleats due to some kind of minor injury and let DMo play out the string of this meaningless season.

I’m not even super high on Sam, but it’s time. The team needs a spark and it seems crazy not to give another QB a chance. Morris isn’t getting it done and has gotten plenty of chances.
-
He will start two games before the Apple cup.
-
Yeah, I assume so but that is clearly an inferior strategy as that would mean his first start is likely against ASU (and their conference leading 3.2 sacks per game.)AtomicDawg said:He will start two games before the Apple cup.
It would also mean that we miss any upside potential if he is actually better than Morris because he won't get a chance until the season is already over. -
You are trying to use logic. Don’t bother with this coaching staff.FremontTroll said:

That said if I am Damon I am threatening jimmy if he uses any my kids eligibility on this shit show of an offense that runs stupid schemes and can’t pick up a blitz. -

Sam only has 3 games to play without burning his redshirt … not 4 … he got a quarter of play against Arkansas St
-
This redshirt talk is stupid. Sam is not going to be here as a 5th year senior. He'll either be in the NFL or at Fresno State
-
What’s the point of preserving Sam’s redshirt? The odds of him being good enough to start but not good enough to go pro after 4 years are so slim that it’s not even worth it
-
Yeah, but still…Tequilla said:Sam only has 3 games to play without burning his redshirt … not 4 … he got a quarter of play against Arkansas St

I agree but I thought his camp wanted him to redshirt. Just the assumption I was working off of.bananasnblondes said:This redshirt talk is stupid. Sam is not going to be here as a 5th year senior. He'll either be in the NFL or at Fresno State
Turns out he played a quarter in our riveting win over Arkansas State so my plan sucks anyway. -
I think its more that his camp wanted him to sit and learn behind a leader. They never expected this shitFremontTroll said:

Why aren't you high on Sam? Young, immobile? Morris looks like he's on crack out there.RoadDawg55 said:I’m not even super high on Sam, but it’s time. The team needs a spark and it seems crazy not to give another QB a chance. Morris isn’t getting it done and has gotten plenty of chances.

It’s well documented Damon wanted him to redshirt. If he’s good he likely is gone after his junior year obviously.bananasnblondes said:

Or he could be good but not a huge nfl prospect. I have no idea what his arm strength is like as his highlights are usually touch throws and that appears to be his strength.
Or he could suck. It will be riveting. -
He had D-1 WR’s and he played in the air raid. He throws a nice ball. I’m just not sure how he will handle it live and he’s not going to be much of a runner. Most young QB’s that do well can run. On top of that, he didn’t beat out Morris who isn’t good.RoadTrip said:

Morris is bad. I want Sam to start this week. I just am more LIPO than really excited about him. I like him. I don’t love him. -
Morris is amazing in practice.

Sam missed effectively his Sr year of HS … so that’s a sign for redshirting
That said it’s obvious going to practices that Sam throws a ball that Dylan couldn’t dream of playing -

Eklund made a post after the UCLA game that was something like "For all of you calling for Huard to start against Arizona, are you OK taking the chance that his development could be stunted like many other QBs (provided no examples) who have played as freshman?"
Idiotic take because it's not based in reality. If Sam came out next week against Arizona and threw 3 pics and that changed the entire trajectory of his college career, then he was mentally weak to begin with and it wouldn't have made a difference anyways. -
I love that in a list of 11 QBs, they gave Morris the #12 slotNeGgaPlEaSe said: -
The fact that so many here sucked off Morris is absurd. If he had Cyler’s stats UW is probably +3 wins.

Huard is the #3 guy on the depth chart.
Why would he start over the #2 guy if the #1 guy is benched? -
Imagine believing the only QB who has played this year behind the starter is third in the depth.HairyBallsDawg said:Huard is the #3 guy on the depth chart.

Sam is listed as 3rd because they plan to RS him. If Morris got hurt Sam would clearly be the guy. -
It's nearly 7 weeks into the season (6 games plus a bye week) so if Morris struggles again with bad reads and under thrown ballz, then we just may see Huard. Yeah it's on the road but Arizona sucks big time.
Of course I'm speculating and have no insider knowledge on this one but QBs are a lot more advanced nowadays vs. 10-20 years ago and especially someone like Sam who has a father who played in the NFL for 12 seasons.
OTOH, Jimmy Fake may still be delusional in thinking he can coach the team to a 6-6 record and a Eat Shit & Die Bowl so he show his stubbornness in sticking with Morris.
Just another reason to tune in on Friday night! -

It was over before that. Doogs just hadn't realized it yet.1to392831weretaken said:

Imagine having the cerebral fortitude to remember that the #2 guy was listed as being injured when that happened.dnc said:
