“If Sark goes 7-6 for the next 30 years in a row, that’s another 210 wins. If you ignore the winning percentage, that would put him in the pantheon of the all-time coaching greats.”

Did you keep a straight face when you said this?

GRAA, YBE, etc. by the way.

I can't believe you ever considered closing the fucking gates here.

Yes, while my angst was real, I was being over-the-top sarcastic to jokingly get that response from my papa, who never thinks in exaggerated terms.

BTW, I didn't like harping again on all that Dawgman stuff from the past, but I felt it was needed to set up the story and APAG's PM properly.

It needed to be said. A lot of us (maybe just me) didn't know the back-story.

Pretty shitty they choose to "distance" themselves from you. Especially when considering they had to know it coming a priori...

The truth shall set you free.

Yes... A part of me feels like I've told the story 100 times, but I also reminded myself that we have all sorts of new readers and lurkers coming from far and wide to lurk. Plus I felt the story needed those details, so people could understand my mindset at the time.
    Good move Stalin.

Good work, Derek. I, as well, started to lose my fervor and that Oregon State game was the ultimate slap in the face. I wanted the Huskies to win because I have a hard time rooting against the team, but the way that game turned out...I thought the fight was lost. Little did I know what would transpire just 8.5 days later.

On a side note, I joined your site about a year ago this time, right before fall camp. Even though doogman was a sinking ship, I was banned constantly (literally at least twice a week, which was hard to do because the bans were 2 days), I couldn't stand Kim's arrogance, F3's passive-aggresive schtick and the once decent Ektard growing more like his mentor every day...I still needed a place to talk Husky football. And with the halfbrain site moving around all the time, I thought I was fucked. It's funny that when you are told how wrong you are 1000x in a row, you start to question your sanity. Though I still question my sanity, it's not because of fucktards like johnb, ordawg, dugthedoog purpledawgfan, bleenor and s14afs.

TL;DR: Thanks DJ (I like to call him DJ)

Great read as always (it was a great read, actually).

    One quibble though:
Like myself, KobeStopper had been deeply wounded that dreadful day back in December 2007, when Emmert brought back Willingham instead of hiring Mora. And like myself, Kobe couldn’t stand to see what happened to Dawgman, morphing from a magnificent website into Stalag 13.

Doogman had morphed LONG before December 2007.

Awesome stuff... really appreciate the background piece. One editorial note though; Petersen was hired early Friday morning (6am) although he was likely hired on Thursday night. So it wasn't 10 days after Sark left, it was more like 4!

But it felt like fucking 10! I was on suicide watch the whole time, gasoline already doused, waiting to light the match as soon as we hired Nussmeier. So no, I would not have been around to Cuss for Nuss.

Just pulled out my Bow Down to Willingham DJ signed copy. (I really didn't, but it sounded good)

Nice read for those of us who just finally stumbled upon this bored after wandering in the desert for the last few years.
