Immigration: Something I have been wondering...

Anyway, I just wonder what Mexico thinks about millions of their people leaving. Thoughts? Facts? Bueller?

Question. Why is it that Beavis is fiddling with his wiener 15 times a day for 3 months? Funk that.
-
It's a win for the Mexican gúbementé. The economy is underachieving and under-utilized. They can an easy out, if not a systemic fix, by end vast numbers of poor people, who'd otherwise be using Mexican resources, out of the country. At the same time, Mexicans send back home billions annually.

Apparently the Mexican government publishes a guide for people leaving, so I'd say immigrants leave with their country's blessing.

Dear Countryman:
This guide is meant to give you some practical advice that could be useful if you have made the difficult decision to seek new labor opportunities outside your country.
The safe way to enter another country is to obtain your passport from the Mexican foreign ministry, and a visa from the embassy or consulate of the country to which you wish to travel.
Still, in practice we see many cases of Mexicans who try to cross the northern border without the necessary documents, traveling through dangerous terrain, which includes deserts and rivers with strong and sometimes invisible currents. -
Holy fuckall. Thanks. Guess that answers that. So, from a polical/economic perspective, Mexico seems to be fucking us. Nice.AZDuck said:Apparently the Mexican government publishes a guide for people leaving, so I'd say immigrants leave with their country's blessing.

Who would have thought that deeply insightful knowledge canbe gained from HH. And Beavis and Butthead. What a great day to be a 1%er.
-
I'm hearing that Central Americans are dominating the current wave of immigration, rather than Mexicans. But that's just what I'm hearing.
-
Well... they aren't fucking us IMO as we are each using the situation for mutual advantage. Mexico gets to use us as a safety valve for their internal social problems, we get cheap labor. I've been of the belief for a long time that if the US wanted to get serious about illegal aliens we could by going after the employers - but the fact is that the cheap labor is very good for many sectors of our economy: farming, meat packing and construction come to mind.
Of course, the second and third order effects are the demographic changes and the Hispanicization of the Southwest. -

I did read that Mexico is getting pissed about Central Americans crossing into their southern border. Kind of funny. They encourage it when it is us taking their people, but get pissy when someone does it to them. Faggots.

Read this book a few years ago, http://www.amazon.com/The-Next-100-Years-Forecast/dp/0767923057 . One of the projections therein was that basically Mexico would take back the Southwest, Gadsden be damned.AZDuck said:Well... they aren't fucking us IMO as we are each using the situation for mutual advantage. This is where I part ways with my fellow liberals a bit. Kind of funny, cause I'm pretty much Hispanic myself... but whatever.
The multicultural thesis never seems to work very well with groups that don't want to assimilate. Folks that emigrate to America or Europe and want to become Americans or Europeans do well, and are eventually absorbed. People and groups that don't want to melt into the melting pot tend to fracture off into ghettoes and become the focus of ethnic strife.
Also, too, the "Aztlan" movement proposes more or less the reconquest of the American southwest via demography.

I'm not fond of the racists on either side of this one. Mexicans who come to the United States willing to assimilate and prosper within our culture I generally welcome. Americans who want to keep all the dirty beaners out I despise. Mexicans who want to turn the Southwest into Aztlan I also despise. -
I might get some shit for this, but why don't we just annex Messico? Divide it up into some states, make sure Chihuahua is one of them, and everything could be peachy. I have no doubt that we could run their country better than they can. They can still move up to Arizona and Texas as much as they want, and I can go get some beachfront property in the Gulf on our newest addition to American soil.

La Raza is loving this thread, by the way.

American culture used to be pretty good at assimilation. It doesn't appear to be working that well right now with Mexicans in California especially. The fact that several hundred billion gringo dollars have been sent back to Mexico in the past 15 years speaks of that failure.AZDuck said:This is where I part ways with my fellow liberals a bit. That said, if Our President had an elderly Mexican son, he'd look a lot like Cesar Chavez. -

But don't demographics support the notion that Mexico will have basically taken back the Southwest in 30 years? I mean, this shit is happening. The only question is whether they will be good integrated Americans, or little Mexico.

First is demographics, then down the road full on secession under guise of national affinity to Mexico, not the US.Swaye said:But don't demographics support the notion that Mexico will have basically taken back the Southwest in 30 years? Most of them are sending money back. Pretty sure it's a big win for Mexico - jobs for Messicans who stay there are easier to come by, and American money is coming in.
