Comparing the America of 1980 to the America of 2021 is fucking stupid.
Our fiscal situation now compared to 1980 also doesn’t work. Back in 1980 you still had plenty of Rats who were fiscal hawks, you’d be hard pressed to name a dozen Republicans who fit that bill and there are zero Rats who qualify.
