An interesting take. Imagine being the guy who would lose to such a subpar candidate.creepycoug said:Didn't read the thread. Just the title. That's how I roll these days.
Listened to it. He's terrible. Just terrible.
The quintessential example of the insincere, 'plug and play', politician. Every word a perfunctory nothing statement about nothing, committing to do things that are impossible, more nothing, inaccurately describing nothing, and more nothing.
And, his delivery sucked. He obviously slurs his words, which means he's drunk, drugged up or senile. He sounds weak and about to die.
Over/under that guy croaks while in office?
Worst choice of POTUS in my life-tim. He may end up doing some good things (Afghanistan), which will be entirely cancelled out by the tax hikes.
But, then again, I could do some good things. Should I be POTUS?
Terrible. Just a terrible selection by the party, and by the electorate. -

Government control of the economy. That's socialist, not Keynsian. So dazzler, you tell me how having the government control our energy policy, medical policy, our public schools isn't socialist. The 20th Century economic boom didn't begin in 1983, no matter what you all keep telling yourselves. Biden is proposing a return to what became mainstream economics from 1933 through about 1979, a period that saw reasonably prosperous and and large middle class arise in this country and elsewhere.RaceBannon said:Right. To the extent you don't want any government energy policy, I disagree. But having one isn't Marxist.
To the extent you are arguing that universal health care is socialist, it can be. But single payer isn't socialist and the first adopter of universal health care on a large scale was Otto Von Bismarck--noted socialist.

Yeah, all we need to do in order to return to those glory days is use the military to destroy the industrial capacity of every major economic competitor. Of course Dazzler is so fucking stupid he think our tax policy explains our post WWII economic growth.HHusky said:

I don't recall saying that we had a perfect society during or after WWII. I said the groundwork had been laid and our tax and spending policies continued to largely encourage the growth of a prosperous middle class.
And regardless of what people said and what challenges we faced in 1979 (inflation, stagflation, etc.), there is a vast body of economic data to support the proposition that the shrinking of the middle class--or at least its share of the economy--begins in the 1980s and has continued unabated. -
By 79 our crappy energy policy along with our economic competitors along with the growing welfare state finally caught up with us. Leftist hadn't killed the golden goose but they certainly had made it very sick and anemic. The growth that Reagan sparked was fueled by lower taxes and less regulation.RaceBannon said:It took the Great Reset under Reagan to undo the damage of 33-79 where the whole house of cards collapsed leading to Reagan.
I wonder what other areas of Dazzler's life does he need the laws to be changed in order for him to do what he says he is already dying to do. -
Everyone thinking that Biden only wants to tax 'the rich' is a retard. "Did we say we want to tax those making $400k? Well, MAYBE, sometimes, that could be lower. We'll let you know." The open hostility from dems towards the middle class is noted.

We also massively assisted the rebuilding of those competitors. Their industrial base was more modern than ours at that point. But this was about broadly distributed prosperity vs. trickle down economics. Our middle class didn't become suddenly prosperous in 1946 and stand pat. The middle class in this country became more prosperous and numerous for about 35 years after the war ended. Bombing Hamburg doesn't explain that--West Germany's middle class also became more prosperous and numerous over those years.SFGbob said:
