Jake Locker and the 10th row

I would have said Jake Locker - the track. I vividly remember watching his fly route bombs sailing over the heads of his teammates on the sidelines and bouncing off the middle lane of the track in front of a half-empty Husky Stadium. That play always had the same result when it was run on 3rd and 2

Sweetman to Chambers and it isn't even close.

Paus hit Chambers for a 76 yard TD vs a ranked Cal.

Cal was ranked way too high.

Picket to Williams because everybody fucking knew that was what we were going to do and they still shattered the book.

Everyone knows what's coming when you're ranked last in the PAC-10 in yards per carry.

Hobert (and Brunell) dropped dimes to Bailey, but the TEAM was so much better that the play action pass was almost unfair.

I think Pickett is probably the most underrated QB to go through UW. Talent wise, a healthy Pickett is arguably better than both those guys. A true what could have been guy IMO.

Reggie was the most talented receiver we've ever had.

If you put those two guys on the natty team, i'm not sure we're worse that year.

Did Reggie ever learn to downfield block?

He taught DAT everything he knows about downfield blocking.

Reggie was pretty fucking physical. I didn't realize Mario Bailey was routinely blowing up safeties. Maybe it was Orlando Mckay? In any case, Reggie was a hot head, but when another alpha cb tried to jam him, he would punk the shit out of him. There is a highlight of him pushing trufant 15 yards down the field. Also I forget the name of the hot shot UCLA CB at the time, but i remember those two going at it and Reggie owning him.

Again, put him on the natty team coached by don james and practicing against that defense and tell me we would have been worse.

Hobert to Bailey. The 91 team was a running team which limited their opportunities. Bailey and Hobert weren't even playing in the 4th quarter in half the games either. Picket to Williams aired the ball out almost every play. Completely different offenses.

For sure. Always wondered what happened to his senior year when he regressed. The whole firing Rick in the summer was bad for the team but I've never understood how it made Cody so much worse as a QB. He surely would have jumped to the draft before his senior year if he had known what was coming.

The other thing with Pickett was how much of the mental side of the game he got. Someone with his talent (not quite as athletic as pre-knee surgery Brunell or Locker but a much better passer) should have done better in the NFL.

Are you saying that if you put Hobert-Bailey on the 2002 or 2003 teams, they would have had more production than Pickett-Williams?

Cody had an absolute cannon before that shoulder separation/surgery. His ball was never the same after that.
