    Fun fact. Cookie Jackson held the state 100 meter record for years before being broken by Ja'Warren Ja'Hooker, who in my estimation is really the fastest Husky.

    Jackson's record, which was something in the 10.5 range, survived even track greats Darrell Robinson and Calvin Kennon, both of Wilson HS.

    Fun other fact: the creep was at Star Track I when Robinson blistered that 45 second 400 meters. Dude could move.

    Shehee was quite the high jumper too.

    I'm guessing Dan Raley got that idea from listening to me and @creepycoug argue about Sterling Hinds

    I'm sure that was it.

    Also missing from this list is Roc Alexander. I don't recall how extensively fast Shehee was ... I know he was fast. If the only evidence of that is the 4.3, then he was no faster than Alexander, who was also a 4.3 guy. Alexander has scary speed.

    They used to refer to Roc as having run a 10.3 in the 100. I think he was the fastest Husky I watched regularly until Ross. I doubt Ross could have held a lead on him after 40 yards though.

    Agreed. I’d take Alexander over Ross in the 100 meters.

    Chris Massey was very fast too. I remember reading he ran a 4.3.

    He just had the shittiest skillset as a cornerback.

    Getting torched by Texas was special.
    I couldn’t sleep after watching that game and now you bring it up for me to suffer again

    @Doog_de_Jour
    Texas and Applewhite torched a lot of teams through the air that season. Zero pro potential but classically good college QB.

    This is going to keep Five Reasons loaded for decades.

    Salvon might have made this list until FSP got a hold of him. Laser timed 4.3 in high school. Also, remember that play where Feeney (to this day I wonder what we'll do without him) chased down that guy who had like a 10 yard headstart? Guy was a freak. Reminded me of the Budda/DK play from this year.

    There never has been a suitable answer to the original question.

    Clarifying my memory, it's true that he battled with the heralded Chris Simms for the starting role, but also reviewing the history, Applewhite was a 4th quarter fucking stud, more than just against Washington. He's also #3 all-time among Texas passers and holds / held several Texas passing records. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Major_Applewhite

    Texas was also 5th in ppg that season.
