Question for the Marrieds

Yes- she changed my first name to "dumbass' the first year of marriage.
-
My wife calls me by my name. Sometimes she will inverse two letters in my name call me that. I am 50/50. I have about 20 weird names that I called her as jokes before we were married that have been shortened down over the years for use around our kids. We use first names exclusively in public. No one needs to know the stupid endearments we call each other at home. Babe is never used. We both find it cringe worthy.
-
Only in public, or when I'm in trouble. I am to blame, my parents never called each other by their given names, or me by mine. My mom would if I was in trouble, but I literally cannot remember my father ever calling me by name. He called me Charlie, as in Charlie Brown, until the day he died. We use all of the sappy ones, and a few shortened to initials only we know the meaning of. I have become my parents...
-
Interesting. My parents call each other by their first names generally, but I suspect they had pet names they use when others weren’t around. Same with both sets of grandparents.
-
My wife doesn't speak to me much at all anymore.
-
Yes! One guy I date called me “babe” and it annoyed the fuck out of me. Especially because I knew that’s what he called his ex.theknowledge said:My wife calls me by my name. Back when I did have meaningful interactions with women, I always found "sugartits" to be an affecting nom de amore
-
Tell me more about how you were able to pull this off.GrundleStiltzkin said:My wife doesn't speak to me much at all anymore.
TIA
My wife's sister and her husband call each other "babe", and it drives my wife crazy. If I called her that, there would be repercussions. I can get away with "hey, baby" in Butthead's voice from time to time, though. -
Get really drunk and stupid the night before. Works for me.dflea said:

I have been married enough times I don't call her by her name only because I get confused and use the wrong name. Things I have learned:
do not call her by an ex-wife's name if you value your life
do not forget her birthday (that cost me dearly)
or forget to have kids get something for Mother's Day (did that too)
or anniversary (so got married on April 15th - a day that I will never forget)
So yes I use other names to call my wife, but definitely not 'babe' -
Yes as well as all the mushy names.
In fact it is a meme/joke around our friends on how my wife says my name when she is trying to get my attention -
Heh. That’s a good list.LebamDawg said:I have been married enough times I don't call her by her name only because I get confused and use the wrong name. Things I have learned:

I always suspected many people use pet names as they are terrified with accidentally calling their current SO by their ex’s name (or whoever they’re fantasizing about). -
Babe, hun, honey, sugartits...I don’t see a problem.
-
My last three significant relationships (wife #1, referred to as the "practice wife", long-term girlfriend, and Final Wife), all have very similar names, all beginning with E...all with the middle name Marie. With the girlfriend, she may have became wife #2, had I not called her by Wife #1's name once when I was exhausted from work...I swore she mis-heard it, but the names are so similar, I was toast. Occasionally, someone will call Final Wife by practice wife's name by mistake, we just look at each other and laugh...CSBLebamDawg said:I have been married enough times I don't call her by her name only because I get confused and use the wrong name. I met my mother in law who told me wife was called scooter as a baby. I used that for a long time

Real name only, no nicknames. Except when I called her "Woman" when my dinner is late.
-
I've lived with my Mrs Chuck for about six years now so close enough.
It's pretty dorky but she usually says babe. She says my real name when she's really thinking hard, angry, or about to confront me about something.
One thing she doesn't call me is Chuck. She hates it for whatever reason. -
Ha! I had an ex-boyfriend that would call me “woman” when we’d bicker (“listen hear, woman!”) which I actually found rather endearing.BleachedAnusDawg said:Real name only, no nicknames. Except when I called her "Woman" when my dinner is late.
But if any of you ass clowns dare address me that way I’ll rip your nuts off and use them as hacky sacks. -

It's lame but it's what we? do. -

I tried calling Mrs. Swaye my Prairie Buffalo once. It turns out that is not as appealing a pet name to a woman as you might think.

So, in your private moments, what do you call his ex?Doog_de_Jour said:
