Welcome to the Hardcore Husky Forums. Folks who are well-known in Cyberland and not that dumb.
this years recruiting class is meh
But our best defense in at least 30 years was full of meh recruits that became monsters
Obviously everyone would prefer a bunch of blue chips, but good coaches can turn 3 stars in an NC caliber defense, and Kwat and Lake are still here.
However, this program needs to have a great run in 2021 or the momentum has officially flatlined.
Pac 12 title and beat Oregon or bust, quite honestly. The potential is there.

Not giving a fuck is unforgivable.
What is it that made this year such an easy pitch? Right after putting up a good optic fight against Bama, I would have said, yes. But 3 consecutive bowl losses and then 8-5 doesn't seem like a easy peasy platform. There are worse, don't twist. But it takes a talented recruiter. The program isn't selling itself at this point. It still takes recruiting chops to stock a roster at a PNW school because there's not enough local talent in the region and you're never going to keep it all anyway. You have to go far out of state and bring them here.
It's doable, but you have to pull it off and it's work.
There are a fair number of future starters in the class. In the long run it's not going to be a back breaker for the talent level at UW.
The problem is in the key failures including national top 10, local guys spurning UW. It's hard to get past that.
The good news is that good players get good all by themselves sometimes and make average coaches look good.
I think with maturation on offense at QB and WR UW has some great tools to finally put up some points.
The offense just needs to actually figure out what it really can do and who's best at doing it. A full camp and a couple OOC blowouts will help with that process.
Teams ran all over us. The DL prospects have all been underwhelming so far from Tuli (Small flashes) on down. The redshirt freshman, especially Bandes looked horrible. Keith Taylor needs to gtfo for congratulating Oregon.
We have softness permeating thru the program and it’s a way bigger concern than losing individual recruits.
The team (especially on defense) has a finesse/soft problem... The interior DL got mauled, the edge guys are pass rushing specialists that struggle against the run or playing disciplined, the safeties are 20 yards off the LOS and are afraid to hit, and the corners outside of Molden (and sometimes McDuffie) are really fucking soft.
In the list of problems with the team the DL and the team mentality are at the top of the list, closely followed by the safety play and scheme.
Yep it was Spears that I really liked from his highlights. He's incoming Kevin King level. Maybe a bit better at this point.
