Maybe the weight Pleasent has added has helped with blocking but he still runs like he's 205. Still too soft. He got easily dropped by a 190 lb DB yesterday on a play where he had him in insolation. His best play on the year is a spin move out of a tackle. I'm struggling to think of an example where he's really trucked anyone.

What am I missing on Cam Davis that everyone loves him so much? Is it a stars thing?

He had the 2 best runs of the night.
    Ty >>>> Sark.
    He had like 4 carries?

I wouldn't really say the running backs "Suck", but there definitely isn't that one guy who can be counted on to do it all. The bigger problem I see is the play calling, especially early on in games.
Teams have learned that we want to establish the run game early so they're loading up the box and daring them to run, and instead of adjusting and being aggressive and attacking them downfield when they do this, they just line up and run straight into an 8 man front over and over again for an entire half.
That's not to say they aren't making adjustments on offense, but those adjustments are happening too late. Donovan seems to be content to wait till the 2nd half to open up the offense, and that almost came back to bite them last week, and this week it did.

In the Arizona game, he had 2-3 really impressive catches, and the run where he dragged 8 defenders. Those feats, to me, are context neutral, and can't be discounted "because everyone raped Arizona."

Neither McGrew or Pleasant, or Newton for that matter, can shed a defender, break a tackle or make something happen that is not provided for them by the Oline. Those are things really good RBs must do.

Within the context of what UW is trying to do, they pretty much suck. I don't take pleasure in saying that.

Here are the Pac teams with better RBs getting volume carries. ASU, UCLA, Oregon St., Utah (that freshman), USC (Carr), Stanford (Jones).

That's half the Pac-12 with more talented lead runners. UW should never be in that position.

Especially not when trying to form a program "identity" around running the ball.

Wayyy too much attention on the RBs.

Yes Mcgrew is the best back overall and he is average at best. Probably 90% of what you'd like out of a RB1.

People have mentioned there are no broken tackles or misses made but thats not something they've had the opportunity to do.

The Oline has made very few holes.

The Oline has made very holes because of the scheming.

If we take the 4 fattest dudes from this site and tell them to stay tight in the middle and not get pushed backwards they could probably do that relatively well. Its thinking and moving for every other situation that makes it exponentially more difficult. The other teams are basically taking the inside run away without worrying about anything else.

Play calling is screwing the oline and the oline is screwing the rbs
