Wayyy too much attention on the RBs.

Yes Mcgrew is the best back overall and he is average at best. Probably 90% of what you'd like out of a RB1.

People have mentioned there are no broken tackles or misses made but thats not something they've had the opportunity to do.

The Oline has made very few holes.

The Oline has made very holes because of the scheming.

If we take the 4 fattest dudes from this site and tell them to stay tight in the middle and not get pushed backwards they could probably do that relatively well. Its thinking and moving for every other situation that makes it exponentially more difficult. The other teams are basically taking the inside run away without worrying about anything else.

Play calling is screwing the oline and the oline is screwing the rbs

Why don't you just come out and say me and 3 other fatties?

Neither McGrew or Pleasant, or Newton for that matter, can shed a defender, break a tackle or make something happen that is not provided for them by the Oline. Those are things really good RBs must do.

Within the context of what UW is trying to do, they pretty much suck. I don't take pleasure in saying that.

Here are the Pac teams with better RBs getting volume carries. ASU, UCLA, Oregon St., Utah (that freshman), USC (Carr), Stanford (Jones).

That's half the Pac-12 with more talented lead runners. UW should never be in that position.

Especially not when trying to form a program "identity" around running the ball.

TBS overrated RB’s based on high school and camps. For some reason, shitty teams often still have good RB’s it seems.

What am I missing on Cam Davis that everyone loves him so much? Is it a stars thing?

I was wondering the same thing. The guy hasn't had the opportunity to really show his stuff. I do think he'll be good but so many posters already think he is the second coming.
The Clamoring for Cam (ILTCIT) is just TBS overhype

The OL run blocking has been well below average. THAT is the much bigger problem.

The TBSers are always short sided and want whoever the young new toy is to play until next years young new toy shows up.
I would say Davis has shown some ability and hasn’t gotten a full chance. It is mostly hype, but the guys in front are lacking production and Davis has at least one run every game where it leaves us wanting more.

I can’t stand Pleasant in short yardage. I don’t care that he’s big. He sucks at it.
Newton and Pleasant, even McGrew are not TBS favorites. Only Cam Davis is, and for good reason frankly, he's made some great catches and has the best all around physical and skill-set. If you can't see it, you can't see it. That's fine.

These RBs do, basically, suck. Of course OL play is bad but two things can be bad at once, and often are.

CFB is a game where above average backs have plenty of opportunity to create for themselves. As you said even shitty teams have good backs.

UW doesn't really have good backs.
McGrew was a 4-star from St.John Bosco and California Gatorade State player of the year.

He has underwhelmed in his career, but he had a good list coming out.

Yes, he was a highly rated guy but Pleasant and Newton were 3 star fallback guys. Similar to Sunday and Berry coming in. FWIW McGrew has been the more impressive of the upperclassmen at RB.

Thought McGrew would be faster, he doesn't have top-end open field speed which to match his quickness and burst.

McGrew was. He tore it up in high school and was considered a big play threat. Never really panned out. He’s more quick than fast. He doesn’t hit any home runs.

I think we're all on the same page here. Really thought Mcgrew would be like Ahmed and house it if he got in the open field.

He gets run down quite a bit for being a track star coming out.

Hey speak for yourself, I'm a huge TBS'er and Newton has always gotten my Richard up.

The good news is that even Mario and his sec line suck running this year

Cal is actually better at running than either UO or UW. They practice what we run our mouth about. Cal had Stanford beat 3 ways until they turned over the game. Cal gashed the ducks but even so need passing to actually finish the drives.

You need to be good at everything to be a good team

Cal averaged 1.9 yard a carry against Oregon
    Yeah but still.
