Thanksgiving Dinner Gayme Thread

After having gone to my sister-in-laws for the past few years they are COVID scared so now we’re on our own. That means firing up the smoker to see what happens.

I decided to smoke that fucker. Dry brined the bird (14lbs) on Monday. Aiming for 250 for 7 hours. Hickory chunks with briquettes. We’ll see what happens. Aiming for some axual flavour and moisture on this thing instead of having to cover it in gravy to get any taste. We’ll see.

    Unhappy Turkey Day is what it ends up being for all the 'I'm shaking and about to vomit because of the Vid' crowd.

    My brother is coming over is all - just 3 of us. Normal in the oven turkey this year, no oilless deep fryer, smoker, just normal.

    @whlinder What type of smoker do you have?

    Dry brine is a good move.
    I smoke on the Traeger for about 4 hours and finish off at 350.
    Invest in a Bluetooth thermometer and all the work is done for you.
    Smoked turkey gravy is the fucking tits. I freeze that shit and use it all year.

    Watch internal temps. I use a Turkey cannon. Damn thing makes smoked turkeys really good and really moist.
