“I was recruited as a tackle. I played left tackle in high school and I think I see myself as having more of a 'tackle body' being so tall, so the transition's been great. It's a lot of the same technique out there.”

"A lot of the stuff is still similar to what we've had over the years, but I really like what Coach (John) Donovan brings the table," Kirkland said. "It's more of an attack mode type offense and its really simplified this year as far as all the calls and how everything goes for us. It's been great."

- Asked about Gaard Memmelaar and he said he's country strong, he's athletic and they had known about him for a long time with their ties from Boise State and that he never wavered after his commitment even though he had a lot of schools coming after him.
- Younger guys Troy Fautanu at left tackle and Nate Kalepo at left guard. Julius Buelow is at right tackle and Corey Luciano is at right guard.
- Prefers just to have five guys and go with them.
- Huff said he wants at least a full week ahead of their game with Cal to define roles. Until then guys will be moving around.

Race's point couldnt be more valid. Defenses have been mostly inept so far this season, even in the defensive strongholds down south. Live tackling and scrimmages are probably big keys to beating that trend.
UW is expected, or should be expected, to lean heavily on its defense. If they are actually in good form early it could make all the difference. -
