Will this help our chances with keeping Emeka and JTT home?
-
I think it helps with Alexander, Owens and Tinae and it doesn't hurt with JTT and Emeka but don't think it will be a big factor for either of them.insinceredawg said:Will this help our chances with keeping Emeka and JTT home?

But if Alexander is leaning to Cal, Tunae to WSU, and Prentice to Stsnford, doesnt it help those schools more?sonics1993 said:

No because most of those guys might decide just to commit to the school they know best which in this case is Washington.bananasnblondes said:

So the Troy Franklin flip, I’m assuming isn’t happening
-
Am I correct that JTT has never even visited Ohio State? Can’t imagine him committing to a school he’s never seen in person. If this continues through the fall, I’d imagine the local guys would stay local.sonics1993 said:

Troy Franklin, meet Spam Chancellor.greenblood said:So the Troy Franklin flip, I’m assuming isn’t happening

If shutting down everything got us Tinae, Prentice, Alexander, EE, JTT, and Shuster but also meant we'd be taking shitty plan C guys at DB, RB, and the remaining OL spot, I'd take it in a heartbeat.

Still in contact with UW coaches and players so I wouldn’t go that far but I do think it helps Oregon a lot that he can’t visit Washington again.greenblood said:So the Troy Franklin flip, I’m assuming isn’t happening

There's still nothing stopping kids 'walking around campus' as they are calling it on Twitter.
I imagine some SEC teams will encourage kids to do campus tours where they 'accidently' run in to coach. -

one telephone call from Gee Jr could negate all that.DoogDawg said:

But they still can visit unofficially, no? In other words, if TroyTroy wanted to visit for the Michigan game, which is totally gonna happen (yeah right), then he could, yeah?
Thanks for the info, @sonics1993... -
Unknown at this time. If they just keep extending the dead period then no, even unofficial visits would be disallowed. I mean he could buy a ticket and come to the game but he wouldn’t be allowed to visit with players, coaches, administrators, etc.no tours or anything else. nothing beyond what a normal fan in the stands could doBeno4Life said:But they still can visit unofficially, no? What are you hearing about the season happening, sonics?

Have to wonder if the fact that Jimmy now seems to be taking the "virtual visit" thing seriously (about 3 months too late), we might see a few kids come back around to UW.
-
While virtual tours make an impact, it won't be nearly the same impact as a physical visit. The coaching staff screwed the pooch on this one. Virtual tours from the beginning would have put UW even, if not slightly ahead of a lot of these recruits that went elsewhere. While an official visit might bring some of the non-committed and even committed players back in the fold, I find it difficult for a virtual visit to make up much ground if any. If these coaches are behind the times with their social media and distant contacting, I can't imagine them having the ability to differentiate themselves with virtual tours.bananasnblondes said:Have to wonder if the fact that Jimmy now seems to be taking the "virtual visit" thing seriously (about 3 months too late), we might see a few kids come back around to UW.

Anyone who, at the beginning of the statewide shutdowns, assumed there was going to be a complete reversal in time for official visits this year, deserves to be fired and publically shamed on his way out of town. -
That's a huge red flag on Jimmy. If you are unwilling to change and adapt to recruiting changes, does that mean your going to be stuck in your ways from a game plan and strategy standpoint? We already know he's vanilla at best when it comes to staff hiring. I'd be pissed about being sold on his energy and fresh swag, and getting what I'm getting now.chuck said:

I am pissed, but I always temper my feelings about things like this before it's all over because I never feel that well informed about what's really going on. Everything I read here, all the reading between the lines of coach and prospect interviews, insider reports, web "expert" reports, etc all gets taken with a grain of salt. If we're still sitting close to the middle of the conference in recruiting in December I'll be a lot more worked up.greenblood said:

Jimmy's first set of mid terms is cause for concern though, to put it mildly. -
Every single thing Jimmy has done as HC has been fucking terrible. His staff hires were an absolute flaming shit-wreck.
His complete mismanagement and chincompetence in recruiting has been stunning. The total inability to read the situation and adjust on the fly is a massive read flag. As was his inability to put aside his loyalty to shitty coaches like Bob and Bonerpop and do what’s best for the program.
He seems to have some toxic mix of arrogance and incompetence, and sounds like a fucking used car salesman when he tries to sell the program.
Jimmy’s in way over his head. He is going to be Gilbertson Willingham kind of bad. Take yer screenshots. -
That's what I've been worried about. From the very first press conference where he awkwardly talked about his love of X's and O's and every ensuing interview since where he's described his offense as "attacking" and "aggressive", he doesn't inspire much confidence for his vision for the program At this point he's basically the defensive version of Sark.guntlove said:Every single thing Jimmy has done as HC has been fucking terrible. Yup. He’s giving off Sark and Taggart vibes...except they could recruit.insinceredawg said:

I must have missed this over the turdtastic start to Jimmy's tenure, but do we know for a fact that he and the staff have been off the back on virtual visits?
-
Sark's recruiting at UW was largely overrated. Prior to the big defensive staff overhaul after the 2012 season his recruiting was barely distinguishable from Ty's. The 2012 class had Shaq and not much else, the 2013 class was his best class at UW, and prior to bolting for USC the 2014 class was garbage.DoogWhisperer said:

Jesus christ. Sark's recruiting was a fucking joke, as Petersen demonstrated in his first two classes. Each class had a couple of good players surrounded by filler and high Hope's dashed by non qualifiers. He also continually (even after he was gone) received doog credit for being "in on" elite guys that were obviously only listing UW among their favorites because UW begged them to.DoogWhisperer said:

Lake could continue down the pathe he's on right now and still easily pull in better classes than Sark did. -
He has Coach K. He’ll be fine.
