Until they hire a new coach in December.TTJ said:The likelihood Ethan goes to USC is approximately 0.0%.
Same with UCLA, now that brother Bo has been ruled academically ineligible for 2019.
I’d wager UW can wrap things up with Ethan by showing Josh a ton of academic support this year. -
He’ll be signed in December.dnc said:

Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian 2021 linebacker Ethan Calvert landed his newest offer this week and it put him at 11 offers after one week of his junior season.
Stanford has had a lot of success at Oaks Christian over the years, and one of Calvert's teammates is committed there, and Calvert said it was a big one for him.
"Yeah this offer is huge," said Calvert. "Stanford is a very special place and definitely will be a top choice. Bryce (Farrell) has always talked good about Stanford to me."
With Calvert in double-digits for offers, he said this offer joins some of the other significant ones.
"I’d say right now Washington, USC, Ohio State, Michigan and LSU are the offers standing out to me," said Calvert. "A lot of the offers, not a lot of kids around here are getting them. Like Ohio State, they didn't offer a lot of guys out here, just me."
With two older brothers in the Pac-12, Bo at UCLA and Josh at Washington, Calvert has been able to watch the recruiting process up close but said neither is pushing him in any direction.
"It's still pretty early in the process but I don't think I'll ever make a decision based on them," said Calvert. "It will be based on me. They've helped me a lot and they text me and give me advice but neither are pushing me in any way."
While UCLA hasn't offered yet, the Bruins stay in touch with him.
"There is a good chance that UCLA offers me soon," said Calvert. "I hope they do. I've been talking a lot with Coach (Don) Pellum and I've visited there a bunch."
The Huskies, though, have made him an early priority.
"They offered me after Josh committed and it was Coach Pete (Chris Petersen) who offered me," said Calvert. "I liked him a lot, I think he's a great guy and he cares about his kids. I also talk to Coach (Bob) Gregory pretty often and Coach Bush (Hamdan) too because this is his area."
Calvert played his sophomore season at safety but at 6-3, 225, is now at linebacker for the Lions, filling the hole left when Josh and Zach Charbonnet graduated.
"I think I could still play safety but going forward, I'll see it less and less and I think I'll be focusing more on inside linebacker" said Calvert.
Michigan has Charbonnet now and Calvert said the Wolverines are a factor in his rercuitment.
"I'm going to go check out Michigan in the spring, but whenever Zach comes back, he tells me he likes it but he's not trying to pressure me," said Calvert.
Notre Dame is another Midwest school recruiting Calvert and he thinks an offer could come at some point.
Utah has also offered and while his father played there, he's not getting a push from him.
"Both of my parents are standing back, letting me do what I want to do and trusting me," said Calvert.
Calvert has already been selected to play in the 2021 University of Washington Polynesian Bowl.

He is fucking wow IMO. Watch his stance and footwork as he diagnoses plays. He flows to the play but is under control. Hes light on his feet, in an athletic stance, ready and able to take on blockers or just beat them, and explosive as fuck as a finisher. He looks so much better than what we've been seeing on the field it almost makes me sick.Neighbor2972 said: -

He’s unreal. Best LB prospect on the WC this year.

He already got his brother. Doubt it matters much in this case.DawgDaze71 said: -

“ I wanted to clarify things a bit...I am not saying that Washington doesn't have a chance with Calvert. He's a thoughtful kid and he's got a great relationship with the Husky coaches, especially Bob Gregory, but the thinking is that it's a big-time uphill battle for them since he is leaning, at least right now, toward going in his own direction. The older brother went to UCLA and Josh headed to Washington. I have no idea where Calvert is leaning right now, but I know the Huskies, if they were to get him, would have to overcome him wanting to blaze his own path.
It's not impossible for them to reel him in, it's just going to be very tough to get him in the boat.” -

Professor Eklund is likely basing this on having a front row seat to the Ngata brothers' recruitment, and thinking he can extrapolate from that due to his simpleton's tendency towards recency bias.NEsnake12 said:

Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian linebacker Ethan Calvert had a strong showing at Sunday’s Under Armour All-American Combine. He was invited and committed to the Under Armour All-American Game following the combine.
Calvert was on the very short list when talking about best overall performers and prospects at Sunday’s UA Combine. At a rock solid 6-2, 225 pounds, he has a college body right now and showed why he’s a consensus top 100 player nationally.
He’s currently rated the No. 89 player in the 247SportsComposite and No. 91 by 247Sports but look for that to jump up when the new 2021 rankings are released in the next week. He’s a physical player who can run, is a plus athlete, can play in space and can even drop in coverage.
We’ve said it before but with older brothers at UCLA (Bo) and Washington (Josh), Ethan is the best athlete in the family and has the most upside as well.
On the recruiting front, Calvert’s last two offers were from Oregon and UCLA and he said he has interest in both programs right now.
Oregon- “I mean it’s Oregon, it’s hard not to like them and be excited about that offer. They just won the Pac-12 and beat Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl. They’re a bit time football program and I’ve always had high interest there. I’ve never been out there but I’ve seen pictures and it looks incredible with great facilities. That’s definitely a school I plan to visit at some point.”
UCLA- “My brother Bo is there and he loves it. He’s been grinding and was recently named a captain so I’m really happy for him. It would be cool to play with him but at the same time, I’ve always said I can’t make a decision based on where my brothers are at because they’re not going to be there forever. I like UCLA, coach Pellum is the one who offered me and they like me as an inside ‘backer and I think I would fit in well there.”
A few other schools Calvert said are high on his list include USC, Washington, Utah and Cal.
USC- “They offered me back when I was a sophomore and I like them a lot. I went up there for a recent visit to meet the new DC, Todd Orlando and he seems like a good guy. He’s high energy and a players coach and I’m looking forward to building a relationship with him.”
Washington- “I’ve been up to Washington three times since Josh is there and I have a good connection with the coaching staff. That’s going to be big for me, finding a school where I connect with the staff and I have that at Washington. They have good guys there and I like coach Lake a lot, he’s awesome and I’m excited to see what they’re building.”
Utah- “Again, I like their staff a lot and I’m building a good relationship with them. Coach Whittingham does a great job and that’s a winning program. They develop players and have a staff full of coaches that are great guys and care so I like Utah a lot.”
Cal- “That’s another school that I have already visited and I really liked it there. I like how they play defense and I think like the other schools on my list, they’re a big time program that I think I could do well at. I’m still building relationships with them but I have a strong comfort level for sure.”
Calvert said he plans to make an early commitment.
“I’m planning to graduate early so I want to take my trips in the spring and then commit this summer before my senior year,” Calvert said. “I don’t have any trip dates set with anyone yet but I know I want to visit Washington, UCLA, Cal, Utah, Stanford and Oregon.
“A lot of other schools want me to visit too so I’m still sorting everything out and like I said, I don’t have anything set with anyone yet. I just know I want to get my decision out of the way early so I can focus on school and football during my senior year.” -

Not just anyone can continue to bat 1.000 at times like these. Luckily, we have Elklund, Fetters, and Grinolds on the job!
Excited to have Ethan Garbers reclassifying to 2021 and helping out at LB so that Huard can take over QB from day one.
