Culture is trending badly as Sleddog points out. We aren’t there yet, but the socialists have pretty much take over the entire public education system and much of the “private” education system. Each year millions of poorly educated but indoctrinated youngsters are released into the public square.

There literally are no good democrats left in the traditional sense. Bloomberg was a great mayor. He continued Rudy’s stop and frisk programs that targeted black on black crime and saved thousands of black kids lives and knocked crime down all over New York including black and Hispanic neighborhoods.

Yet, Bloomberg couldn’t run on that record in the dem primaries and was forced to adopt the leftard politically correct view of crime and disavow his successful program and get back to blaming whitey. Al Sharpton and the BLM movement clearly have a veto power over any dem candidate running for major office. There isn’t going to be a Sister Souljah moment. Frankly, there isn’t a real big difference philosophically between Bernie and barry. Barry was just a little more circumspect. Pelosi was badgered by the base into supporting a ridiculous impeachment.

The closest thing to a moderate democrat running this year for president was Tulsi and she got no support and she is way to the left of blue dog Bubba.

Bloomberg should have been a part of the new GOP coalition which looks a lot like your dad's democrat party. Trump would have stood tall behind stop and frisk and defended it. People are not looking for weak kneed apologists from either party.

Trump has changed politics for a generation. Those who understand that will win.

Reagan changed conservatism but the GOP couldn't wait to be rid of him for the NE establishment Bush who apologized for being conservative.

The GOP couldn't wait to get right of Ronnie? He's the Patron Saint of the party for crying out loud. What was the 1994 Revolution? Those guys and gals were all the ideological heirs of Reagan.
And what happened before that? Compassionate conservatism is an apology for Reagan being mean to grandma and starving children. Read my lips became raise my taxes. Bush sold out the Reagan Revolution and lost the White House

1994 was a long time ago. And a faded memory. Trump is closer to Reagan than W or any of the refuse that ran against him. The GOP don't care. National Review Never Trump.

    They can all fuck off
Reagan cut taxes. Reagan raised taxes too when folks used to care about the deficits. Bush broke his campaign promise and raised taxes to help control deficits. The economy in the 90s didn't seem to mind.

Bush 41 didn't become President because the GOP Establishment hated Reagan. He was the VP of a very popular and successful President. Pretty hard to keep those type of guys from getting the nomination.
Only after your Reagan kids got Bill to agree on cutting spending and repealing the worst of the tax hikes.

Newt was outside the establishment as well. Being anti establishment is never wrong. The one time I went against George Washington on intervention in foreign affairs was a huge mistake. That was your Bushies aided and abetted by the democrats.

I gave credit to Trump for, at least, trying to do what he said he was going to do- i.e., getting tougher on illegal immigration and push back on China. I haven't always agreed with the tactic and optics, but fine, we needed to DO SOMETHING on these issues. Trump is similar to Reagan in this respect that he's been willing to stick to his principles on these policies.

Still, Trump, falls incredibly short of Reagan's political gifts in so many respects. 60% of the country loved the Gipper. No more than 40% will ever love Donnie. But another 6 to 8% will think he's the lesser of two evils and that's enough to win the EC in 2020 and maybe the popular vote too.

I understand you go to war with the candidate you have and not the candidate you want.
Trump will get re-elected, but will NOT win the popular vote.

Dems will blame Bernie and BernieBros.

    Lather. Rinse. Repeat.
This is why I was for Bernie. Tired of the excuses and if only. We could have settled some shit

Intervention was a Bush 43 thing, which both you and I supported. We thought we had to DO SOMETHING to shake up the Middle East and that they'd find the WMD. Lesson learned and it's ok to admit being wrong.

Let's not smear Bush 41 though. He kept the oil flowing and stopped short of intervention.

Bush 1 was a patriot and war hero like JFK. I would not smear that

Kuwait is more defensible than Iraq but both of them showed that we didn't learn the lesson of Vietnam. If we aren't in it to win it then stay out.

One could argue that going into Baghdad in 91 would have been better than 02. But its all hypothetical.

I was itching to kick some Jihadi ass in Iraq but it became clear over time that we were there for profits for arms dealers. We weren't there for the oil which would have actually made sense

    I'm back to isolationism

I enjoy our discussions on your country club GOP membership. Of course a trained actor and soap salesman is better at sales. Depending on the target audience. Trump sells to the disaffected who are tired of the Bush clan caving in and apologizing for everything. Or guys like McCain and Romney who want to be liked by the DC establishment more than they want to fight for us.

Trump is the guy we needed.

I am neither GOP nor conservative. I am a 60's radical that never sold out. I'm a Jefferson agrarian. I didn't embrace communism like Bernie I embrace America fulfilling its greatness and its destiny. Leave me alone and don't tread on me.

The democrats had an effective argument that the right wanted to control your life with the whole Christian right thing. They gave that away when they passed laws on what kind of light bulb you have to use.

Now it is clear who wants to control and who is cutting the bonds of taxation and regulation.

I'm a simple construction worker who just wants to live free or die.
Sales is perhaps the most important part of the job. Donnie is great at sales to the base. He sucks at the type of sales needed to win beyond the base.

Obama sucked at congressional sales. He was young and cool though and that was enough to win comfortably twice.
