Reagan cut taxes. Reagan raised taxes too when folks used to care about the deficits. Bush broke his campaign promise and raised taxes to help control deficits. The economy in the 90s didn't seem to mind.

Bush 41 didn't become President because the GOP Establishment hated Reagan. He was the VP of a very popular and successful President. Pretty hard to keep those type of guys from getting the nomination.
Only after your Reagan kids got Bill to agree on cutting spending and repealing the worst of the tax hikes.

Newt was outside the establishment as well. Being anti establishment is never wrong. The one time I went against George Washington on intervention in foreign affairs was a huge mistake. That was your Bushies aided and abetted by the democrats.

Trump will get re-elected, but will NOT win the popular vote.

Dems will blame Bernie and BernieBros.

    Lather. Rinse. Repeat.
This is why I was for Bernie. Tired of the excuses and if only. We could have settled some shit

Intervention was a Bush 43 thing, which both you and I supported. We thought we had to DO SOMETHING to shake up the Middle East and that they'd find the WMD. Lesson learned and it's ok to admit being wrong.

Let's not smear Bush 41 though. He kept the oil flowing and stopped short of intervention.

Bush 1 was a patriot and war hero like JFK. I would not smear that

Kuwait is more defensible than Iraq but both of them showed that we didn't learn the lesson of Vietnam. If we aren't in it to win it then stay out.

One could argue that going into Baghdad in 91 would have been better than 02. But its all hypothetical.

I was itching to kick some Jihadi ass in Iraq but it became clear over time that we were there for profits for arms dealers. We weren't there for the oil which would have actually made sense

    I'm back to isolationism

I enjoy our discussions on your country club GOP membership. Of course a trained actor and soap salesman is better at sales. Depending on the target audience. Trump sells to the disaffected who are tired of the Bush clan caving in and apologizing for everything. Or guys like McCain and Romney who want to be liked by the DC establishment more than they want to fight for us.

Trump is the guy we needed.

I am neither GOP nor conservative. I am a 60's radical that never sold out. I'm a Jefferson agrarian. I didn't embrace communism like Bernie I embrace America fulfilling its greatness and its destiny. Leave me alone and don't tread on me.

The democrats had an effective argument that the right wanted to control your life with the whole Christian right thing. They gave that away when they passed laws on what kind of light bulb you have to use.

Now it is clear who wants to control and who is cutting the bonds of taxation and regulation.

I'm a simple construction worker who just wants to live free or die.
Sales is perhaps the most important part of the job. Donnie is great at sales to the base. He sucks at the type of sales needed to win beyond the base.

Obama sucked at congressional sales. He was young and cool though and that was enough to win comfortably twice.

    Chinned.

But FTR, I'm not sure the popular vote is off the table if Biden's the nom.

I used to know the dem king maker in Oregon way back when. He was a 60's radical who dropped acid, dropped out and then when he figured out commune life didn't pay the bills he went back and got his law degree. As a college student and then a politically active rat 20 something I used to listen to every word he said and he liked to drone on about how he and his group were going to change Oregon politics from a grass roots level. Starting first with the libraries, schools and City of Portland low level employees. Over 40 years he did exactly what he said he was going to do. I know for fact his blue print was adopted by Colorado, New Mexico and Washington 60's generation liberals. They were all well funded and used to brag that they were using Conservative tax payer money against them. Most of this core group ended up running the dem party for all those states. That is when the legislatures in those states all turned and went far left. For obvious reasons we mutually cut off all communication with each other back in the late 80's but I would see his name attached to meetings and seminars in DC throughout the 90's when I was working up there. He was teaching others how it could be done in their states. He was very successful in doing what he wanted to do.

The things I admired about these scoundrels was their dedication to forcing America into what they thought it should be. Their willingness to stick to a long term strategy and not get impatient. Their ability to find people who were leaders, dedicated to the cause but not concerned about their personal wealth. Those people would take jobs in city and county government and at the administrative levels of education that didn't pay much but as time went by they would earn more authority and be in a position of control and influence and then they would exercise that influence.

Republicans don't think like that and the next thing you know you get the Katz's of the world running things and supporting all those lower levels below and their agenda and it is too late. The culture, the education and tradition are all gone.

I had drinks with an older Rep from Oregon while in DC. He was a Dem but older than the 60's democrats. We were talking about how Oregon had turned so rapidly. He told me a story about a grandson or a nephew who came home and told his parents about some revisionist shit he learned at school When the parents scheduled a meeting with an administrator to voice their displeasure, they were told that there was nothing parents could do and that if they wanted to affect change they had to go through the PTA. They felt helpless and yanked the kid out of public school. The Rep told me that things had gone too far left and the state was unbalanced. That was in the late 80's early 90's.
This was basically Obama's and the lefts plan. A large percentage of the hippies went into teaching. My wifes aunt and uncle were part of it.

Install people at high ranked non approval needed jobs and destroy us from within.

Khrushchev said they'd get us from within.

Trump will get so far under his skin that Biden will crack at some point and challenge him to do push ups

Biden isn't a commie. But he has been a stupid incompetent phu*ck his whole life. Toss in early stage Alzheimer's and the same leftards screaming for the cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment against Trump for mental incompetence and once again you have the hypocrisy of the left on display. Leftards lie and love to be lied to.

When he said he's all in on the Green New Deal he became a commie.
