Makes sense. Kasen William's was at least close in terms of rating, but was nowhere near as talented (just my opinion).WillyRBeek said:chuck said:*We'll get Franklin and Egbuka.
Or just Franklin. The WR depth chart is going to be fine, great even. But there are still no mitigating factors if Egbuka leaves. A guy that good in state is like a once every 10-15 years kind of event. If UW can't get him, it's a long wait for the next opportunity.
If you're referring to the WR position, it's actually more like 20 years. As per 247's rankings, the only other WR from the state of Washington that's been higher rated than Egbuka since 247 started ranking recruits is Reggie Williams from the 2000 class.
I was thinking more in terms of non QB skill players rather than just WRs, but still arbitrarily threw out the 10-15 year range. The last guy I had in mind with a similar talent level was actually Jonathon Stewart.
Ya, they have Egbuka and Stewart rated about the same. I never really realized it till now, looking at the rankings, but there have been very few non-QB skill players to come out of Washington that are considered "elite".
Looking at 247's all-time rankings for Washington, 11 players have made the list(This is not including the 2021 class though). Of those 11, it breaks down like this:
- 3 QB's(Eason, Brown, Matt Tui)
- 3 OLinemen(Sarell, Garnett, Schilling)
- 1 OLB(Smalls)
- 1 WR(Williams)
- 1 TE(Middleton)
- 1 RB(Stewart)
- 1 Athlete(Mays) -
Thanks for digging that up.WillyRBeek said:chuck said:

Middleton is a joke 5 star. 4 would have been acceptable but he was way too slow to ever be a 5 star. Great hands tho.WillyRBeek said:chuck said:

Even if he commits, I guarantee we will freak out multiple times before he signs. He’s going to be a very tough pull.

You know what, I don't wanna jinx nuthin but ... if you're catching bombs from your top 10 qb all through 7vs7 all the time ... It's looking good.
-
Ektard just christoballed him to UW.

It's pretty clear by his comments that this is a Tuitele like situation where hes already told the coaches he's going to UW but is waiting to announceWoof said:Ektard just christoballed him to UW.

He looks fucking great, but I thought Jalen's film was better.

Enjoyed his time with Sam at the Portland 7v7:
WR Troy Franklin: The top 2021 receiver in the Golden State, the Menlo Park (Calif.) Menl0-Atherton was the most consistent target of Huard in FSP Blue Chip's march to the finals and he led Blue Chip in touchdown catches on the day. -

“ On Monday’s “Recruiting with Andrew Nemec" on 1080 The FAN, FSP CEO/head coach Tracy Ford joined the show to talk about an Oregon visit that went “above and beyond” even what his program has seen at Alabama, the growth and development of Ducks commit/FSP linebacker Keith Brown and Oregon’s (fast-rising) chances to land five-star wide receiver Troy Franklin.
Ford on Oregon’s energy compared to other top programs:
“Man, honestly I think they are probably a step above and beyond as far as the whole atmosphere that they bring and that energy,” he said. “You’ll be in a place like Alabama, a lot more... kind of just routine. You go to Alabama and it’s kind of routine, it’s kind of what you do. ...You come in and you see jerseys on the wall and they say, ‘Hey, the only thing different with these jerseys is these guys went first round.’ But you got to Oregon and they are just in your face, hooting and hollering. A lot of people originally thought, especially when Mario’s staff first came in, they were all fluff, all talk, not really no action. But when you rack’em and stack’em and see what they’re doing, it’s like, ‘These guys just won the Pac-12. They just won the Rose Bowl.’ So whatever they are doing it isn’t fake, it isn’t smoke and mirrors.”
