Shaq Thompson and Lavon Coleman impressing Petersen

“I knew about him in high school, but I didn’t spend much time studying him and researching him, because at the end of the day Boise wasn’t one of the places he was going to go,” UW coach Chris Petersen said. “So when we figured that thing out early on, we kind of moved on. Knew about him certainly when we played against him, studied him there. But, really, I’m still learning about him. If I had to say one thing, what I know right now is he’s just a very good football player. You put him on offense, you put him on defense, you put him as the kick returner, he can just do a lot of things very well. And so I like coming out here to see him get a run and see him make a play on defense and pull the ball out. And so that’s interesting, that’s intriguing. He’s one of the guys I’m real anxious to go play a real game with, to see that show up, because he does so many good things out here.”
Shaq stripped Ross and housed it 50 yards for a touchdown then had a solid practice running the ball. I think many in here can agree that we were a little underwhelmed by Shaq Thompson last season. I don't think that will be the case this next year.
Far as the running game goes with Washington, Callier, Cooper, Coleman, Shaq and Baker getting some carries I think the running game will be fine especially with Miles at QB(even Lindquist or Williams as well can run). I think Petersen is smart enough to pull off a committee like Rick did so well in 2000 while Dude Brah obviously couldn't pull it off.

Says a lot for Petersen to give Shaq that much lip service.
expecting big things from Predator next season. -
Sark kept him completely bottled up..... Really weird and zero outside the box thinking

"You need a handful of backs. No position takes more a pounding." Sounds like we'll see a platoon which I like.
I love his response when someone asked him about does he want his players to learn more about the Northwestern situation. "I want them to focus on the two hours out here on the practice field. Then focus afterwards on academics. I want them to prioritize things". -
Running back by Committee doesn't replace Sankey. The question is are there any backs on the roster that scare opposing defensive coordinators? Can't say that yet, so your generalizations show your ignorance you son of a cunt. Maybe your daddy didn't explain that to you at all those games he took you to (that none of us went to). I also think several people in here are really selling Dwayne Washington short. Anyways with Chris Petersen coaching along with Washington, Coleman, Callier, and Cooper plus Shaq/Baker the Huskies will be running the ball quite a bit.
No need for a QB by committee when Cyler Miles has proven to be a Pac-12 caliber starter. -
If it's Coleman/Washington with Miles at qb and no hampering injuries to our receiving core, then wtf is the problem?

Did I say he'd be an all-american? I simply said he's proven to be Pac-12 caliber starter. Not really going out on a limb given what he has shown us, the fact he was a 4 star recruit(#2 QB in the nation according to Rivals). No need for a QB by committee when Cyler Miles has proven to be a Pac-12 caliber starter.
No backup has had more game time experience before becoming a starter since Tui. Miles had plenty of snaps and every time looked comfortable. Played an entire second half on the road against a ranked UCLA and looked fine. Looked fine against Oregon State on the road. Despite his stats looked good in the 4th quarter of a close bowl game against BYU(Had a perfect TD pass that was flat dropped).
With Miles at QB I'm not even remotely worried about that position. -
I would be more concerned that he hasn't been working with the new coaching staff this Spring, not so much throwing but just being tutored by a real coach.

You're playing pretty fast and loose with the word proven. Plenty of guys have come in and looked good in limited action and ended up being terrible.He_Needs_More_Time said:

Again for the 100th time, said he's simply proven Pac-12 caliber. Didn't even say proven all conference. I'm not even saying he'll be better than Price(I do think he will be all said and done) just stating he's proven he can start in this conference with his running ability alone.allpurpleallgold said:

His mechanics might be a problem far as getting to that next level but he's accurate enough where he'll be fine.
Also he did more than Oregon State which I already explained. This isn't a Casey Paus throwing 8 passes against Oregon and that is all we have to base it on. -
Miles >>> Paus. That's something we all agree with but his sample size while impressive is rather small. He's got potential to do well based on his play last year and his ranking (those are never wrong - Hi Nick!) plus he's got 4 cupcakes to get settled in but he has yet to prove he's Pac12 starting caliber.

The lines win or lose games -
Sark always had/brought in good skill players. However, as PGOS mentioned his line (for both sides of the ball) was so fucking drecky that it also hindered what the skill players could do.

In 2011 the ducks were blowing most teams out. It wasn't fucking "RB by committee" A lot of those scrubs got carries in garbage time. A couple backup QB's on your list. The ducks had 2 solid RB's and a speedster in Deanthony thomas.
In their biggest game, the 2012 rose bowl they only used said 3 rb's and their qb to rush the ball.

Well up above I did mention all five starting OL are back. They also have a real OL coach instead of a guy you don't want to see get mad.
The entire DL is back as well as the LB's which is why I'm excited for this upcoming year.
Conversely, in 2015 UW will return most of their skill guys but lose the entire DL, bulk of the OL(With no real replacements) and their LB's so that could be a transition year. -
This team also ran a RB by committee as well........
http://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/schools/washington/1991.html
That team also had to replace a Doak Walker award winner at RB. I'm sure PLSSFS was worried back then too. -

I think it's safe to say Shaq at running back is no longer an experiment. It's happening.
Adam Jude @A_Jude 33m
Shaq Thompson (@ST7_ERA) has had 2 carries in this UW scrimmage. First was an easy 20-yard gain. Second went 76 yards for a touchdown.
I think Shaq could be our Myles Jack this year and he could be that impact guy. -
Petersen will do it the right way. Ucla was too gimmicky with miles jack. No way uw does that. It's just a fad.He_Needs_More_Time said:Adam Jude @A_Jude 32m

Kim would never admit it but he'd hate to see a Petersen vs Mora for the Pac-12 title. He'd act fake happy for Petersen but it would burn him. He'd pull a PLSS with Lambo and just give all the credit to Sark.AtomicDawg said:

I've said it before. It's so personal when it comes to Petersen and Mora for Kim. It burns him because most everyone here thinks highly of them and knows Sark sucks. He doesn't care about the program at all.He_Needs_More_Time said:

Shaq Thompson (@ST7_ERA) has had 2 carries in this UW scrimmage. First was an easy 20-yard gain. Second went 76 yards for a touchdown.
I think Shaq could be our Myles Jack this year and he could be that impact guy. -
It's very obvious it's personal too that he wanted Nuss over Petersen. He won't ever give Petersen credit. Like I said in previews he always makes sure to point out how much talent Sark left behind.RoadDawg55 said:
I've said it before. It's so personal when it comes to Petersen and Mora for Kim. It burns him because most everyone here thinks highly of them and knows Sark sucks. He doesn't care about the program at all.He_Needs_More_Time said:
Kim would never admit it but he'd hate to see a Petersen vs Mora for the Pac-12 title. He'd act fake happy for Petersen but it would burn him. He'd pull a PLSS with Lambo and just give all the credit to Sark.AtomicDawg said:
Petersen will do it the right way. Ucla was too gimmicky with miles jack. No way uw does that. It's just a fad.He_Needs_More_Time said:Adam Jude @A_Jude 32m

If Sark fails at USC he'll have an excuse quick on hand. He'll also be a bitch and go "But how does that prove he failed at UW ?".
