Too many good ones to choose from. I picked Roger because he didn't have any votes. Wtf.

Objectively it's Jagger, but I just don't enjoy the stones.

The fact nobody mentioned Layne Staley in this thread speaks volumes about the generic, shitty taste of this board. I'm not even sure I want to post here anymore.

I love Layne and agree about the dusty muzak represented here. Staley was a bit of a bore as a frontman
This is true. Same for Kurt. Great artists, not amazing live performers.

    Robert Plant

Freddie had the best set of pipes, although I don't like the Queen shtick that much and fine them overrated.

Daltrey was the most gifted athletically and was doing the curly blonde haired thing was before Plant.

But Mick was first by a long shot. He was the first rock guy to rip off the James Brown moves and be a showman. All rock frontmen are derived from Mick.

Although as Paul Stanley points out in the multi-disc auto of Paul Stanley, Daltry only grew it out long to do the long curly locks look after Plant arrived.

To hear Stanley say it, EVERY front man wanted to be like Plant after he showed up. Roger was wearing the curly curls short b4 LZ.

Cook it! It's Plant for the heavy stuff; Jagger for the lighter stuff.

    Cook it!
What the fuck are you talking about counselor? @creepycoug here is Daltrey live in 1968 BEFORE Led Zeppelin had even released a record. Daltrey was first.

    longer
Stay in your lane @creepycoug . Here’s Zep live in late 1968. Same timeframe as The Who video. Plant’s blonde locks are no longer than Daltrey’s. The longer hair came later.

Stanley says it came on Plant b4 Daltry.

I'm going with the Star Child pendejito. It takes more than a record collection to out-duel the front man of KISS. Sorry. Not sorry.

Everybody wanted to be Plant when Zep got it going bra'. Take your Who and their child-porn lead guitarist and LEAVE! this discussion.
Kiss sucks. They are not a group for serious rock.

Anyone who actually likes Kiss gets serious judgement from me. The whole gimmick and talent of that band is pure shit.
Some of the old shit is not bad. Cold Gin is good or GTFO. Talented musicians ... are we talking technical? You're right that they're not all that, although many guitar people I know personally, and I've seen it written, that Ace was a talent until he couldn't walk anymore. Paul Stanley freely admits his limitations as guitarist and has talked about it quite openly in telling the Kiss story.

They were original and did their own thing. I can respect that. A lot of good bands aren't super talented musicians. Nirvana had one technically gifted player in Grohl. Their impact was being first and different. Early on, Kiss has some claim to the same.

The Kiss Alive album in 75 is one of my favorite live albums all-tim, although I generally don't like them.

Judge away. I'm the Creep: IDRGAF.

DDY has given me shit for it before, but Scott Weiland was the best live performer of any frontman in the 90’s. I put STP behind AIC, Soundgarden, and Nirvana, but he was better live than all three of their frontmen.

I'd put Anthony Kiedis right there with him

I like to list all the bands a guy has to prove he's a solo artist

You forgot the a word. Backing. "backing bands"...
