Proud Jack Husky right here.

It's sad and I question how sustainable this model is for UW over the long haul. We need more 3.2 HS GPA dumbs like me going to UW.RoadDawg55 said:
Agree, but the higher heights the school reaches academically, the diehard alumni drops. Football is a blue collar game. Not saying that smart people don’t like football, but sports in general are followed by people with lower IQ’s.YellowSnow said:
We need Jack Doogs no doubt. But our alumni base cares a heck of a lot more than Stanford's.RoadDawg55 said:Our program would die without Jack Doogs. It would be basically Stanford where very few care.
I bet that is true for most schools.
The in State kid that grew up watching Husky Football and has a 2.8 - 3.4gpa is not getting in anymore. When my dad went to UW in the late 70’s, that’s what the majority of his frat brothers probably were.
UW wants the out of state and foreign money. The kids (specifically makes) going to UW now aren’t like the ones that went from 1970-2000.
The students in the end zone hurts too because it lessens the experience for students. UW has done a horrible job of doing the little things that create fans for life from their student base.
@creepycoug how do they feel about the Jack Canes down there in the Caribbean?

This is true. I didn't get my Husky Hatred behind Kane Hall at the hands of Yella and all his varsity buddies. I got it vis a vis a rejection letter than made me go to Cuog!!!!!!!!!!RaceBannon said:A lot of Husky fans were born into it or picked it up as kids long before a college choice. That's what drives Cuog crazy. No kid grows up a Cuog fan. First you have to be rejected by UW and attend WSU
I'm a jack Husky who did drive by at UW and helped Charles Jackson and Wayne Moses stay eligible.

We? have an entirely different set of problems down in Miami; and even though Miami is statistically harder to get into than UW, that's not the real problem.
Michigan has been an elite university for a longer period of time than Washington, and is still markedly more difficult to get into. And they fill that mother fucking stadium up every Saturday, rain -
What else is there to do in Ann Arbor aside from rocking khaki pants?creepycoug said:We? have an entirely different set of problems down in Miami; and even though Miami is statistically harder to get into than UW, that's not the real problem.

But both Ann Arbor and Madison are surprisingly good small cities with plenty to do. They are islands in a sea of shit.
There's a plenty to do if you don't care about football. Not as much as in Miami or So Cal, but it's still there if you don't want to watch sports.
The point is that Michigan is a school with a strong sports culture that values football. The fact that it's an elite university has done little to change that. -
Hum. The more I know.creepycoug said:

Weren’t you out of state? Your chances of getting in are a little better if that’s the case.YellowSnow said:

It is unfortunate. Those kids should be able to go to a State school. They would do fine. 3.2 while playing sports or having outside activities are relatively intelligent people that aren’t obsessed with their grades. -
I was out of state. Only had to meet in-state criteria, however, for being a legacy. I was on the bubble though so row boat used on of their spots to make it hunret that I'd get in.RoadDawg55 said:
