This Will Not Be a Popular Opinion

He’s brought the big dick mentality to the West Coast in recruiting and coaching.
He completely outcoached a solid coach in Whittingham and his staff by attacking the strength of their D right up the middle. They attacked, and he had them ready scheme-wise and energy wise. You don’t think he used the national media looking past Whoregon and solely focusing on Utah’s CFP chances as motivation for his team?
His teams play with swag and energy that leave me envious of their brashness, cause it looks like they’re having fun. They embody their coach.
The PAC-12 is a joke of a league compared to the Big 10 and SEC as evidenced by that Martin Stadium-esque turnout last night in Levi’s Stadium. You could hear it in Herbstreit’s and Fowler’s voices, as they didn’t have to “get up” for the moment.
I don’t like Cristoballz the person, but I like the mentality he’s brought to a passive-minded gentlemen’s conference.
I think Lake has that in him, too, and I’m looking forward to the best rivalry in the conference playing out on the field and recruiting trails.
It sucks to see the Yucks go to the Grandaddy of Them All, but they deserve it.

Football coaches are so dumb that it is literally just...
'Hey, we need talent and we should play like aggressive alphas'
and then a bunch of morons are like "YEAH BUT RECRUITING RANKINGS ARE WRONG AND DON'T MATTER - THEY ARE GETTING BAD GUYS AND HAVE A BAD CULTURE"
Oh - wait, you mean, UGA, LSU, Bama, Clemson, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State and Notre Dame all do that?!?! BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT
CristoballZ raped us this year. Because he's just like 'okay, while these guys are debating whether the sky is blue, i'm going to just fucking do what I should'.
It's not that complicated.
What I honestly like about Jimmy is that he's basically the same, except he's not a dumbass. -
He just won the conference so unpopular or not, it just is.
Meanwhilst, we* had a coach quit on us and we hired a coach with no HC experience. -
Oregon finally has a big dick coach and a ranked strength coach. Better get on board now.
-
Look at what Ed O, Kirby and Dabo have done... you get these guys in a room with Mario and you think you have a fucking particle physicist convention? No.
They are just like - 'uh, we need the best players; then we need to physically dominate teams; I need to get coaches who maximize talent... not just let my friends sit around on this staff and talk about how it's not fair our players can't execute our beautiful schemes.'
Mario got rid of Leavitt and won the fucking Pac-12 because IT'S NOT FUCKING COMPLICATED. -

IS IT REALLY IMPORTANT TO HAVE TALENT AND AN ALPHA MENTALITY AND HAVE SCHMES THAT MAXIMIZE PLAYER TALENT?!?!?
Hmmm... :::::::sound of a thousand Doogs trying to figure out how to say going 7-5 in year 6 is actually a triumph:::::: -
Must kill @oregonblitzkrieg to have to win the PAC this way.

Yeah but if Cristoballz can do it, so can Jimmy. As Dennis said, it’s not complicated.GrundleStiltzkin said:He just won the conference so unpopular or not, it just is.

I’m just impressed by Whoregon’s pre- and in-game coaching. They outschemed us (not hard) in the second half and did the same to Utah all night long. And shit, for the first time watching football, they actually make me think the Pistol is an effective strategy. RBs hit the holes with so much speed. -
Jimmy can, but Jimmy never has. I think most here like Jimmy, I do. But his inexperience is a simple fact.Beno4Life said:

Counterpoint: Whittingham is NOT a solid coach. You’re right about our conference being a joke, though.
God help us if Jimmy tanks and Jen keeps him around long enough to blow up the program again. -
I'm not convinced. We'll see how good Oregon is next year when they have to replace their supposed all-world QB, 4/5th's of their O-line, their best tight end, 3 starting linebackers, and potentially more players on their D if they decide to leave early.
Cristobal inherited a very experienced roster... he hasn't proven he can build anything yet.
The Pac-12 was fucking awful this year and Oregon could only beat UW by 4 and WSU by 3... and lost to a crappy ASU team when everything was on the line. You think Clemson, Alabama, Ohio St, Georgia, Oklahoma lose to fkn ASU? Please.
And don't get me started on Utah... their non-co sucks and their best games played were a loss to USC and scratching by UW. Overrated all year... any other year where the Pac 12 doesn't blow ass this Utah squad is a 7-8 win team. -
It's hard to understand the Jimmy hire because there's no track record. Most coaching hires fail. So the baseline always has to be that he's going to fail and that's why the default stance must always be guilty until proven innocent.GrundleStiltzkin said:

However, outside of that, with a little context it's not hard to understand why Jimmy might actually be really good... he's got a bit more in common with Lincoln Riley, Ed O, Dabo, Mario and Kirby than most.
If we can just have 50% Pete culture and 50% 'we want to sign kids who are scary and beat your ass' culture, we should be great. Jimmy's not fucking David Shaw, that's for sure. -

Cristobal came in and gleefully played the recruiting game (which we've been begging Pete to do for years), said and then instituted a physical, run-first culture, played his talent, openly called Petersen a racist and then beat him down when Petersen had a chance to shut him up on the field. He also scared Petersen out of the sport. Then he won the P12 ship in a blowout and has Oregon in the Granddaddy a few years after 4-8.
Yeah. I'm thinking I'm not taking much umbrage with the OP. You'll excuse me while I vomit. -
He takes OL play seriously, plus he won the conference. He was the best coach in the conference this year
-
They won the Pac, but if you think our conference champion is on the same tier as the best teams down south you are probably a mouth breathing doog retard as well.

Everyone knows the Pac 12 sucks this year. Oregon was the best team in what's looking like the 4th best conference. Big whoop.
Utah and Oregon aren't top teams in the country, not even close, so why does it matter?
Cristobal had the most experienced team in a bad conference... same with Utah. I'm not impressed at all by the way either got it done.
If Cristobal is a great coach, he should have beaten Auburn. And don't give me this "Alabama lost to Auburn" crap... Bama didn't have Tua. -
What kind of fucking idiot would say that? Oregon is about the 4th best team in the SEC. But the SEC is so far ahead of everyone else it doesn't matter that much.PurpleJ said:They won the Pac, but if you think our conference champion is on the same tier as the best teams down south you are probably a mouth breathing doog retard as well.
SEC: LSU, UGA, Bama and Auburn -> all better than Oregon. UF - maybe.
B1G: Ohio State is better. Wiscy and Penn State, debatable? Iowa, probably not.
BXII: Okie is better. No one else is.
ACC: Climpsun is better. No one else is. -
And you could say the same about our two conference winners.BroadcastingDawg said:

We are shit against SEC until we aren’t. It’s just too bad we can’t get a home and home with those teams though.PurpleJ said:They won the Pac, but if you think our conference champion is on the same tier as the best teams down south you are probably a mouth breathing doog retard as well.

All Oregon did was continue to run the ball against UW and not let Herbert fuck it up which he was well on his way to doing. Because they have RBs who can hit the hole and get yards consistently it worked out nicely. This is why I would take Verdell over Ahmed. Just get to the right place quickly and get the yards. We missed that trait in 2019.Beno4Life said:

Their only scheme was to continue to pound the rock with decent RBs against our historically bad LBs and uncompetitive team psyche.
Cristobal is a lame coach but he's interested in winning football games and works towards that end, which our staff has not done recently. -

Tell me what has been particularly impressive about Oregon?
Oh they beat an overrated Utah squad... UW and WSU by a combined 7 pts... nice Ducks! Way to go! -
Watching Oregon is enjoyable because their offensive players actually initiate contact and don't immediately fall down. I was like 'oh, wow, that's what it looks like for players to play hard, not be timid and trying to remember their 83 step progression on this play, and feel like they can inflict some pain and physically dominate the other team.'Kingdome_Urinals said:
