Interesting. Though I DISAGREE! with the author adamantly on her thoughts around use of the word “fuck” this part did resonate with me:
If anyone suggests that this sort of mockery and dismissal amounts to sexism against men, they let out a collective howl of laughter in the form of “ironic misandry.” That would include quips like “boys suck,” “kill all men,” and, most notably, “I bathe in male tears,” a phrase that has made its way onto coffee mugs, T-shirts, and needlepoint pillows and has been called the contemporary version of the 1980s catchphrase “This is what a feminist looks like.”
I’ve never been on board with any of that men hating bullshit (though Lord knows I’ve hated *individual* men at times). I love men, and anyone who thinks tearing one group down is a good way to advance the cause of another is FUCKING stupid.
But as the author says, it’s just a lot of individuals’ way of trying to be edgy...and quite frankly, it’s also lazy as FUCK. The real and meaningful work of social change is too much effort for most people. It’s far easier to throw on a pussy hat and go to a protest once or twice a year.
That’s my FUCKING hot take.
