Far as resume I think Petersen has to be #1 followed by Shaw. I like Mora but he's 0-3 against Shaw and skipped Oregon one year/plunger the other. So for now I'd say he's 3rd. I go Graham 4th then after that is who cares except on principle Sark has to be 7th.

Shaw far from sucks. He has one glaring weakness and that's a stubborn insistence on sticking to his offensive identity. In almost every other important coaching skill (recruiting, player dev, x's and o's) he's damn good.

I put Peterman fourth due to the lack of BCS quality competition (yes, BCC plays a couple of teams each yr., but then plays MW dreck eight times). I think he will be much better than Hawkins and Koetter, but I can't put a non-aq coach first until he proves it.

As for Shaw, I thought Stanfraud would have dropped off to 6-6 by now. He's doing it with a limited talent pool.

Shaw is a really good coach. But his decision making late in games puzzles me, in his losses this year.
Utah-marched it all the way down to the six running gaffney, then inexplicably threw it on 3rd and 4th and.2, and he had plenty of time, almost 30 seconds and multiple timeouts.
I didn't put the USC loss on him. They lost that because of 2 bad picks by hogan, 1 in the redzone.
the loss to Michigan state was terrible, michigan state had practically the whole team at the LOS but shaw was determined to jam it up the middle. He also let a ton of time off the clock without even hurrying. Overall he recruits well and his player development is also very good, but he makes puzzling decisions from time to time

That said he would belong in my top 3 behind mora and maybe behind Petersen but it's close

Shaw played Nunes until after the WSU game two years ago. I think it cost them a BCS title game appearance.

    I'm as follows:

    1. Shaw
    2. Mora Jr
    3. Peterson
    4. Graham
    5. Rich Rod
    6. Reilly
    7. Whittingham
    8. Slingblade
    9. Sark
    10. Mac
    11. Leach
    12. Dykes

That is a great list. I would go a bit different, but not much:

    1. Shaw
    2. Mora Jr
    3. Graham
    4. Peterson
    5. Reilly
    6. Rich Rod
    7. Leach
    8. Helfrich
    9. Sark
    10. Whittingham
    11. Mac
    12. Dykes

The reason is the most successful guys (Carroll, Harbaugh, Chip) moved onto the NFL. The money is there for better assistants but we all know its the top guy that makes the entire staff. The conference is getting better players and better assistants but the most important part of that equation is a lot weaker than it was 5 years ago. As it is, Mora and Petersen to me are clearly the two best coaches in the conference with Rich Rod and Graham probably the next two. Petersen is clearly the best in the Pac-12 North. It bodes well for us over the next 5 years.

Fair enough, Shaw is a good coach and my bad for the omission.

But would you trade Petersen for Shaw? I don't think anyone here would.

Uhhhh let's go ahead and slide Leach in there for Mora. What is ya, Ignant? At least till wait until Mora racks up 10 straight bowl games.

    No way Graham over Petersen.

Tulsa the two years before Graham- 44-53- then he goes 65-30-84-45. ASU was 28-40 the two years before Graham went 27-7. He's had one great season. Lets see how they are in the next few years. They lose about 10 starters from their defense.

Pissing off Kimberly G. and Dawgman.com is great qualification for a UW head football coach! Gotta love symmetrical irony in the hood.

On preferring Petersen or Shaw, it might depend on what kind of football you prefer. Shaw is a dominate the line-of-scrimmage, power up-the-gut, control passing for shock and awe attack kind of coach. Petersen? Well, he's already been labeled by some in the Seattle media to be an offensive wizard and control freak,..... which is oxymoronic for a football coach.

I gotta admit. I'm on the Poon bandwagon. (Is that the correct term for doogin' for Petersen? I like the sound of it)

I like it. Can you add Tang to that?

Post (oh I'm supposed to say 'poast' hee hee) something refreshing. Mora to the Seattle storm! Hardy har har. Fucking dweeb round here now. That's what happens when you invite too many dawgmen over. Close the fucking gates Derek

10 years ago Leach in the top five makes sense. Now, his stubborn insistence on throwing 80 times a game doesn't make him innovative - it makes him weak. Defense has adapted to the air raid, and he hasn't countered with a more balanced approach. It makes his teams one dimensional and hurts their ability to finish games by controlling the clock
