I'm not worried about Haener beating out Eason

I am worried that Eason isn't nearly as good as most of us want to believe he is.
Obviously I think he's better than Brownsocks and the walking turnover, but if he was the stud that his recruiting hype suggests he would have put Haener away in the spring or at worst the first week of summer.
The reality is Eason is most likely exactly what we saw at Georgia - a big, strong armed QB with serious accuracy issues. And probably not the highest football IQ.
He'll make opponents defend the whole field and probably have a handful of NTD, BB throws. But he's not the QB savior we've been waiting for.

I think pete has an affinity for players brownsox or hanear that are extremely prepared and not physically gifted. Eason never really had to prepare that hard because his physical gifts made up for it. But to give the job to hanear because Eason doesn’t have a PhD understanding of your offense is fucking stupid. From what I have seen his freshman year, Eason did not fold under pressure like hanear or brownsox. To me that is an great upgrade.

I hope he is not. There are reporters that hanear is throwing picks every day, but Eason has not been named the starter.dnc said:

Eason could be all pro and Petersen would still fuck with him

We don't need a messiah QB to win big. We just need a QB that can move the sticks and score some points once in a while when we get to the red zone. I mean shit...if the 2018 team was like 40th percentile in red zone scoring efficiency instead of last in Div 1, we would have gone 12-0 and made the CFP.
All we need out of Skinny is to be an decent upgrade from Browning. Add in some improvement in the kicking game and we're going to skull fuck a lot of teams. -

I don't think its obvious that Eason is better than Browning. I think Eason will be the starter, at least for most of the year, but there's definitely a chance he struggles.dnc said:This thing might stretch past the EWU game but ultimately Eason is going to start.

I happen to knwo that one of yor quarterbacks tried to come play for Coach Tucker in the spring. Peterson is a very unethical coach and prevented this. I think that the quaterbacks name was Surmon.

If Haener were to start against Cal, I really don't think we score more than 13 pts. Cal only lost 2 starters on D. They are going to be ready for us week 2.RaceBannon said:Eason could be all pro and Petersen would still fuck with him

Haener will start against EWU to fuck with Cal. Eason will start against Cal but will be cold since he didn't get the warm up against EWU and that will cost us the game. Pete outsmarting himself again.RaceBannon said:Eason could be all pro and Petersen would still fuck with him

We're likely not going to the CFP this year so it's a moot point. But the recruiting level up in the trenches gives us a lot better shot to hold our own in 2020 or 21 if we face one of those teams. -
I know everyone’s freaking out because Skinny apparently has chosen to check down too much already but the fact that his check down throw is a thing of beauty is definitely a positive. The expected 1 receivers don’t get separation - we all know that - but the amount of time it took Brownsocks to release a wounded duck screen pass was abysmal. Any upgrade in that will open up the field for the receivers (at least Hunter and Otton).

Agee with your second sentence. -
We just need a qb that can make the other team defend the whole field.
That's Eason.
Yeah, he's not Tom Brady with a rocket arm ... but he doesn't have to be.
The other team just has to be scared enough that a ball will go over their defense in stride for 6 points and the rest will take care of itself. Keep them honest.
Brownsocks, against a weaker team can keep them guessing even though Washington was playing football in a phonebooth.
Against better teams brownsocks crumbled and the field was too small to operate in.
Looking forward to this season. -
North Dakota stacking the box said a lot.

This is no place for Surman seekers @RuffaloSoldier -
You're not wrong. In the highlights I poasted yesterday morning, Eason had a lot of check downs that he threw wish such velocity that the RB had open space to run rather than getting hit as the ball arrived. They then turned them into chunk plays.Meek said:I know everyone’s freaking out because Skinny apparently has chosen to check down too much already but the fact that his check down throw is a thing of beauty is definitely a positive. I agree. Eason is no Trevor Lawrence. He also doesn't need to be. We've been able to run the ball very effectively with a limited QB who simply could not hit certain parts of the field. Defenses are going to have a lot more respect for Eason simply because he can make any throw at any given time, albeit inconsistently. I think that'll help our run game more than anything, especially in the red zone where we regularly sputtered last year (again, mostly because of Browning's limitations).
-
Eason being capable of throwing 50 yards alone is a huge improvement. Opposing DB's had no respect for the deep ballDuckMayne said:

He’s not going to be great and our offense is FS. I wish we didn’t have to wait for Huard to get great QB play, but that’s what seems likely. If Huard isn’t great, we are fucked and it will get ugly.
-
My hope for the future in spite of Pete's FS potato head offense, is that, at least, most of the guys in the QB room moving forward- i.e., Eason, Sirmon, Morris, etc - don't have quite the same physical limitations as Browning.RoadDawg55 said:He’s not going to be great and our offense is FS. If we are bad on offense this year, Bush has to go. I would put more blame on Pete, but changes will have to be made. No more, “We are so close, assignment errors, etc.” It has to be blown up if it’s bad.YellowSnow said:

The offense has been good one year out of 5 for Pete here. Oregon State sucks, but Jonathon Smith has a good offense there and I just saw he had multiple skill guys on the preseason All PAC 12 teams. Pete has made good adjustments to every problem but his offense. I’m getting tired of it.
-
It's fucking maddening @RoadDawg55 . Pete gets A- to A+ grades on being a CEO, player development, Defense, leveling up in recruiting, etc. But the offense is D - and not championship caliber. We're gonna find out in a hurry how much of this is Pete's system and how much was Browning. Tick, tick, tick...RoadDawg55 said:

I think Eason will throw 40+ touchdown passes this year. Most of them against Eastern and Hawaii.

So how much is pete’s buyout after next year. Also I hear urban is tanned rested and readyYellowSnow said:

2016 made # @FirePete into a lunatic, fringe movement. The 2nd Pac title and massive level up in 'crooting confirmed this. In spite of the FS offense, the risk of firing Pete is far too great. The odds of upgrading from him - he's a top 3- 4 corch in the country - at this stage of the game are minuscule. I'm happy to reassess after 2021.FirePete said:
