He's already taken two to UW and Oklahoma. So he plans on taking three in September. We'll see. Most kids don't understand how much of a hassle in season official visits are. They have to leave for the airport Friday night after their high school game and have to wake up the next morning for a full day of information gathering and activities. Depending on how late their game goes Friday night and how long the flight is, they might get very little sleep so it's not as fun unless you do it on a bye week or it's an official visit to a local school that's down the street. Going through that three weekends in a row and juggling homework at the same time is brutal and probably not going to happen. I think he takes one OV in September and that'll be it.bananasnblondes said:He says he's committing October 1st but now wants to take all 5 of his official visits

Good points overall, but these kids are flying out Saturday afternoon, pretty sure these guys aren't leaving until at earliest noon the day after a game, not the same nightStrongArmCobra said:

It's definitely a lot for a kid in school to deal with, but at the same time I'd want to see the team I was going to commit to play in person before I made my choice -
any chance that Notre Dame is begging him for a visit so they can try to fuck with us?

Oklahoma and Washington are the two front-runners for the talented prospect, with a source informing 247Sports that the Huskies have been surging in the race in recent months, but it appears that Covington plans to take a thorough look at a few other schools in games before settling on a decision.
"No concrete plans yet on visits, but he will be doing some officials in September," the source said. "He would like to take in a couple of games, but he's not set on exactly what games it will be yet. Tentatively, it's probably LSU, Oregon and Texas A&M for officials, but nothing has been set."
The 6-foot-1, 193-pound prospect took a trip to Seattle shortly after the Huskies joined the chase with an offer and Washington has been generating substantial buzz for the Top247 prospect.
"I’ve developed a great relationship with coach Jimmy Lake and coach Will Harris," Covington told 247Sports earlier this off-season."
Covington has a top eight of Arizona, ASU, LSU, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas A&M and Washington. The Sooners, who drew the first official visit back in mid April, have garnered a majority of the votes in the 247Sports Crystal Ball for one of the top defenders out West.
With tremendous length and physical upside, Covington is known for his ball skills and aggressiveness in one-on-one situations. He has a high comfort level in coverage, with the reactions to stick to wideouts and the versatility and size to play either cornerback or safety. Covington closes quickly on the football and, although could improve his tackling technique and fluidity through his backpedal, is a candidate to be multi-year starter at Power Five level.
Washington has recent history at Saguaro with cornerback Byron Murphy, who just became a second-round NFL Draft selection this spring. LSU is also in the mix for Covington's teammate, four-star linebacker Damian Sellers; Oregon is the perceived favorite for another teammate, three-star offensive lineman Jaylan Jeffers; while Texas A&M is where perhaps the most notable Saguaro alum, star receiver Christian Kirk, made his mark at the college level. -

Ducks have been pushing to get Covington on campus and it's likely that he'll make it to Eugene to take in a game early in the season...

This is my favorite DB that we are still realistically recruiting. Really hope we close him.

Angulo:
I really like where the Huskies sit now for Covington with three official visits remaining before his fall commitment. There's always a chance that a recruit changes his mind and just commits, but I think Covington sticks to that date (October). I know he wants to take the three other officials and players at Saguaro are typically advised to weigh all the options before making a decision.
Byron Murphy, for example, took an early-season official to UW (along with N'Keal Harry, if I remember correctly) and then took three more officials after that before deciding. -
Jacobe Covington has taken two big official visits already and is likely to take his three remaining trips early during the season before coming off the board this coming fall.
The four-star defensive back from Scottsdale (Ariz.) Saguaro recently set a commitment date of Oct. 1, although there is no special significance to the date.
"It's just when I think I'll be good to go and have enough time between now and then to make my choice," Covington told 247Sports.
A flip from a Big 12 power to the reigning Pac-12 champions has now occurred in the 247Sports Crystal Ball for the highly coveted prospect. Oklahoma and Washington have been considered the two front-runners for Covington, one of the top available defenders out West, with the Huskies surging in the race in recent months and leaving a lasting impression on his official visit the weekend of Jun. 7.
Now head coach Chris Petersen and Co. have garnered their first vote in the Crystal Ball predictions, which would give Washington another major victory in one of the battleground states within the region.
Covington does plan to take a thorough look at a few other schools in September before settling on a decision, but the Huskies look like the program to beat.
"I’ve developed a great relationship with coach Jimmy Lake and coach Will Harris," Covington told 247Sports earlier this off-season.
The 6-foot-1, 193-pound prospect would like to take in a couple college games, a source said, although nothing has yet been set. LSU, Oregon, Texas A&M and USC are vying for the three spots on the itinerary.
The Tom Loy crystal ball is in! Unfortunately not to ND. I hope this isn't some kind of jinx.

I don't like experts crystal balling a kid to any school before he takes an official visit to another. I'm cautiously optimistic tho given he'll probably only end up taking 1 visit or 2 at most.

Oklahomo 247 guy just Crystal Dong'd him to UW.

When this many experts all jump on the CB’s, something has been said and made the rounds.dhdawg said:I don't like experts crystal balling a kid to any school before he takes an official visit to another. I'm cautiously optimistic tho given he'll probably only end up taking 1 visit or 2 at most.

Interesting take.... 🤔LaMichael_Corleone said:His family is set on coming here. His film suggests he should be thanking us everyday for offering him. He’s a smart kid and will be a DAWG.
The “bad” part is that I think he wants to enjoy the process more than people think and that we definitely still have some work to do before he’s a done deal. Totally fine with me. When we offered and people were talking about big dicking OU, I think it was just our turn to express all this love to just like OU was before we offered. Now that we see this is his best option BY FAR I think people are asking what’s taking so long. IMO he’s gotten a lot of press playing with Kelee & on the camp circuit that right now I think he’s realized this is the highest his value will ever be & wants to take that in before being all business at UDUB. Not buying into the “he’s having 2nd thoughts” stuff that I’ve heard quite yet. -

- knows who the best girl is for him
- during the dating phase doesn't mind making sure he gets his Jimmy waxed
from the dating pool because, like, who wouldn't?

Oklahomo offered John Humphrey this week. May have been the white flag.

So James Smith being a UW lean caused Oregon to go harder after John Humphrey, but UW also being the team to beat for Covington has caused Oklahoma to offer Oregon's hidden gem plan C guy Humphrey? Oregon is just getting fucked from all directions. It's an Oregon gang bang right now.
