I was working at the Redstone Arsenal in Alabama that year - had been talking to some folks about coming up to Seattle to work. Then the dawgs vs USC was't going to be televised nationally, I quickly accepted a job, left my wife and kids in Huntsville (they drove up to Seattle a couple of weeks later with her dad's help) and drove from Alabama to Seattle in 2 1/2 days. Rolled in on Friday so I could watch the game and the Dawgs loose to the Trojans. Lost the national title to BYWho? that year.
