People die in Hospitals every day. The hospitals must be killing those people. Kunt logic, is there anything it can't do?salemcoog said:HardlyClothed said:
Death camps are designed to kill. Concentration camps are designed to hold indefinitely without due process. No one is saying ICE is running “death” or “extermination” camps, although people seem to be dying in their custody frequently.pawz said:Speaking of concentration camps & history books., I'm literally coming to the end of the book The Rise and the Fall of the Third Reich. I'm in the throes of reading about concentration camps.
Concentration camps are designed to kill. Period. Whether it's by efficient means (gas chamber) or working people to death via slave labor, there is only one intent. Extermination.
Maybe it's time to take a walk around Auchwitz or Dachau for some perspective.

Okay it's not the whole country. There's a small percentage of academia that uses the academic definition and a large percentage of the nation that understands it differently. I shouldn't have claimed the whole country was on my side, that was hyperbole.allpurpleallgold said:
In high school I had a Japanese teacher that was in an internment camp. I remember him talking about it (worth noting, I mocked him after the class because I was a shitty Mercer Island kid). If you had asked me last weekend if Japanese internment camps were concentration camps, I would have said “basically, yeah”. If you had asked me about the border, I think I would have asked for the definition of concentration camps.dnc said:
But you only disagree because of what you've been taught in the last 48 hours, yes? Had this not been brought up did you honestly think differently?allpurpleallgold said:But it’s not the whole country. I’ll accept that you would defend that but, dude, it’s not the whole country. And the only way you make it “everyone” is by dismissing those, like me, that disagree.
I will say, I viewed it like a prison. You can be treated well in prison, treated poorly in prison, treated horribly in prison and executed in prison. In all of those scenarios you’re always in prison. What’s being argued now is a clear distinction between concentration camps and death camps so yes the argument would include something I learned in the last 48 hours. I think it works either way though.
I can’t make you believe me on what I hypothetically would have said but this is an article from 2012. This isn’t an overnight rash decision because we are so desperate to attack Trump.

That even has your argument in it, that saying concentration camps evokes images of Nazi atrocities. It’s been an argument, it didn’t become one when AOC said it. It’s not the whole country that agrees with you. -
And is it final?RaceBannon said:What's the solution?

So what does she think will happen with no detention or enforcement?2001400ex said:
Literally no one (except CD) wants open borders race. HTHRaceBannon said:What's the solution?
We know AOC wants to abolish ICE
She wants camp Obama closed
Can we say she wants open borders yet?
You lied

You’re the one distracting from the fact that we have textbook definition concentration camps.dnc said:Yep it's terrible and they should be ashamed.
Concentration camp label is a distraction from these real issues.
I understand that what they are doesn’t match in your head with the words concentration camp but you are wrong. Literally, by definition, you are wrong.
Having shitty conditions for detainees is horrible. Accepting that we have concentration camps in America because we’re not gassing people is dangerous.
Do one thing for me, really try and be honest with yourself about this, if AOC said “yes, that’s the definition but it’s not what I feel when I hear the words so it’s wrong” what would your reaction be?
You're wrong; let it go. This is Sledog-level stupid. -
Seemed like you were gone for awhile. I hoped you had been hit by a large truck. Oh well, maybe next time.HardlyClothed said:

a) everyone but the radical left knows the two camps are synonymous ..HardlyClothed said:

b) would love a source for "seem to be dying in their custody frequently". Would also like a distinction for the people found near death from walking across the desert ..
Since we? know you won't be providing either, it's safe to say you probably have a political agenda that has nothing to do with safety for any person - brown or otherwise
