There are definitions and then there are what words actually mean to the hearer. AOC (and the Twitter brigade you are citing) are well aware of what concentration camp means to everyone who hears it, that's why they're trying so hard to get the label to stick.allpurpleallgold said:

In a world where the left is so concerned about triggering and micro aggressions and such it's pretty wild to watch the left throw their capes on for this.
All this will end up doing is distract from the actual issue on the border, but it will score AOC some points with her base so I guess it's worth it. -

Congratulations on finding a few partisan liberal Jews who want to apologize for AOC's foot-in-mouth. I was worried there weren't any. PS: I've defended her a few times and have argued here more than once that she is anything but stupid. But this was stupid. It's ok to admit it.
We did worse to the Japanese in that we jerked them out of their lives - jobs, businesses and property were lost - for absolutely no reason other than xenophobia-engendered fear. At least in this case, the people involved walked into the problem. No serious person compares Japanese internment with Nazi "Concentration" Camps, which is what they've been called in general conversation since the 1940s, in large measure because the Germans weren't nice to the Jews in the beginning before the extermination process began. The camps were brutal from the outset.
