It amazes me that all the national stuff is all the same "returning starters" formula with little attention paid to schedule(which is more important IMO). I guess you'd have to actually look for more than 10 seconds at each team to figure that out though.ntxduck said:
Agree on the schedules. The hype is because the main formula “gurus” like Steele (who is a good informative but poor predictive read) look for is number of cohesive OL starts and seniors qbs. Oregon has all 5 OL back (with the most starts in the nation) and a senior qb.dhdawg said:

You put the fan in fanatical. I will give you that. He definitely won’t fit in with Oregon’s flashy OL.StrongArmCobra said:Rosengarten is 100% going to UW. Blue-collar, hard working, physical kid from Colorado. Not a flashy guy. UW aligns with his identity and he also want to major in Business. Give him and his parents the Built for Life presentation as well as information about the Foster school of Business and it'll be a wrap. There's a reason UW got the last visit and we've never lost a recruiting battle to Oregon when we get the last visit. Don't know or care what the crystal ballers have heard. He's obviously going to UW. Will be a huge commitment that could motivate Hatchett to join him soon after and that would easily be the best OT class out West.

The Oregon hype is honestly a joke and I have no clue where it's coming from. I'm biased but anyone who compares Oregon and Washington's schedule, and then looks at the home and road records of both teams over the last 3 years and thinks Oregon is the favorite is just not paying attention.
I don’t agree with that methodology at all, just explaining why the pre season mag guys are so high on Oregon. -
One of the Ty years the DAWGS had a veteran laden O line returning and the number of starts stat was a huge doog thing especially back then when it "could" be a good indicator more so than now.
Of course if all those starts were by guys who sucked and who were coached by Ty the results were the same as if they were all freshmen. We sucked again.
Today's game you have schools like Bama that recruit 5 stars across the front and have them three years so there is always turnover
Its why is pays not to run the Albert Einstein 76 passing routes per play offense but still -
Yeah, Wilber admitted on KJR a few months back that he picked Oregon to win the pac because they had the most guys returning and that he hadn't looked at any of the teams' schedules yet.UW_Doog_Bot said:

This is what Quooks do. Ignore the facts and cherry pick meaningless opinion articles that are favorable to Oregon. Your IQ must be so low.
Fact: Since Cristobal arrived at Oregon, UW has had more All-Conference offensive lineman. Those honors are voted for by the Pac-12 coaches. I think they are little more knowledgeable than media members don't you think?
Fact: Kaleb McGary was voted the Morris trophy winner by his peers as the best Pac-12 offensive lineman. Not an Oregon lineman. He then was drafted in the 1st round.
Fact: UW's business school blows Oregon's out of the water. If he cares about education at all which it appears he does, you know where he's going.
Remind me, how'd Oregon's fat ass O-line do against WSU and Arizona?
Also, there is a lot of resources given to the OL. Like a full time coach and GA.

Jones absolutely was a take and you’re foolish not to think so. If he wasn’t, it was a missed evaluation. Kid scored the highest grade by PFF against UCLA of any player on field. The talent is obvious.
Oh wow, Jones had one good game against the worst team in the conference that season? That's special. -
SC told him that a math class wouldn’t allow him to enroll at Oregon. So, it isn’t about being homesick. Bottom line you do lot of fortune telling and it’s entirely negative for Oregon and positive for UW. It’s a cognitive distortion.StrongArmCobra said:

Jones was the best player on the field that day no matter which team, as a true frosh. That’s a better indication of future success than your distorted fortune telling.
You’re basically saying that because there are two out of shape players, the Oline is not athletic. The people that get paid to analyze recruits all mention Jones and Johnson as being athletic. If they take strength and conditioning seriously, they will be good to great players. They’ve already taken weight off and there is no indication that won’t continue. -

Right. However Lemieux, Throckmorton, Sewell are all NFL caliber players and that’s not me making it up. There is experience and talent on the Duck’s oline. Where Oregon is win or lose is between Herbert’s ears and the WR making some plays. That’s the question on Oregon’s offense. -
JFC he was not the best player on the field you unbelievable quook. You think Cristobal would be wasting time starting the fat transfer from Bama if Jones was some potential Freshman All-American. We saw him start Sewell as a true Freshman so why wouldn't he start Jones if he was so good? It's because he ain't that fucking good. Like I said, UCLA was terrible that season and had a completely gutted roster from Chip Kelly running off at least 30% of the team. Jones could have literally been going against walk-ons for all you know. Nothing about that one game is impressive.lawsandl said:

I didn't name two fat, slow-footed players. I named three which might not seem like a big deal but it is. Oregon currently has 14 scholarship O-lineman on their roster. SIX of them are Seniors. That means Oregon will return only EIGHT scholarship lineman next season and THREE of them are slow-footed, unathletic fat asses who can only lean on guys in the run game and can't block, smaller, quicker D-lineman in pass pro. The Pac-12 is loaded with smaller, speed oriented D-lines because only UW and USC are able to recruit big bodied D-lineman.
So yeah, Oregon's O-line depth is trash and they are kinda fucked 2020 and beyond. On top of that, the 2020 class is a very weak class for offensive lineman, especially out West. When UW gets Rosengarten, Oregon will really be fucked. Greatwood was great at finding athletic, 3-star lineman and developing them into good players. Cristobal is fucking your O-line up with the fat asses. That SEC of West shit is not going to work in the Pac-12. You gotta have lineman that can move their feet in this league or else the speedier D-lines will blow right past them for sacks and tackles for loss like you saw against Arizona and WSU last season. -
Let’s be really clear about Oregon’s 9 wins:
1) 3 wins against the worst non-conference schedule in the conference
2) A 5-4 P12 conference schedule that Sark would have been proud of
3) Beating Sparty in a bowl game that rivaled Cal/TCU for worst bowl game of the year
So yeah ... congrats on those 9 wins -
The fact that Jones saw the field at all raises major red flags about Oregon's O-line depth. Why wasn't there a RS Sophomore or Junior getting those game reps when there was an injury? When you have only EIGHT returning scholarship lineman for the 2020 season, and only one returning starter, how the fuck was the next best O-lineman in the depth a true Freshman? That's fucking terrible. You are in massive denial about what's coming down the pipe for Oregon's O-line. Cristobal is not some great O-line coach. He's a blowhard meathead who thinks big people beat little people. That only works if the big people are fucking athletic and can move their feet quickly.lawsandl said:
It’s a pretty simple explanation. Jones got better as the season went along, he got significant time in the UCLA game, he started against Utah and was injured. They tried to redshirt him because there wasn’t a need to play a true frosh.StrongArmCobra said:

Also, did Oregon lose against WSU and Zona because they’re bad on the road or because the OL got dominated by the DL? I can’t keep all of the Oregon ineptitude straight as the licked their way to 9 wins.
I'm pretty sure it can be both. I watched both the Oregon games against WSU and Arizona. Oregon sucked on the road and their O-line struggled mightily with smaller, faster D-lines that do a lot of single gap penetrating. Oregon had defenders in the backfield before their lineman were barely out of their stances. Watch the first half of Oregon against WSU. Beating Oregon's O-line off the ball with speed and penetration is the formula to beat them and other teams will copy it. Oregon won't be sneaking up on anybody anymore and their schedule is brutal. -
Sure. It was an ugly 9 wins. However, if you’re honest with yourself, there’s a lot of positives as well. Oregon learned some resiliency. The team doesn’t have the mental fortitude to win an ugly game like MSU the past three years. They don’t bounce back and win 3 in a row after the stretch they had in the middle. I loved that Oregon pulled out an ugly win. If the offense didn’t play well, the defense always folded.Tequilla said:Let’s be really clear about Oregon’s 9 wins:
1) 3 wins against the worst non-conference schedule in the conference
2) A 5-4 P12 conference schedule that Sark would have been proud of
3) Beating Sparty in a bowl game that rivaled Cal/TCU for worst bowl game of the year
So yeah ... congrats on those 9 wins

Michigan State's offense was the worst in the country at that point. The Redbox bowl was a retard fight with both offenses trying their hardest to lose the game. You sound exactly like a fucking doog during the Sark era. If UW had went to the Redbox bowl last season and won it 7-6, I would have considered that a loss. We have higher expectations now.lawsandl said:

So for the Quook on the board right now ... here’s 3 options for you regarding Oregon’s trip to Seattle this year:
1) Oregon pulls out a close win
2) UW pulls out a close win
3) UW pushes UW’s shit in
You’re fooling yourself if you think the likelihood isn’t lowest to highest probabilities on that list -
And one more thing for the Quooks on their off-season Natty celebration ... why are the idiots in the media picking Oregon to win the conference but the experts in Vegas backing UW hard?
Vegas has to be wrong ... clearly -

I have followed the Ducks since ‘92. I have seen about everything dude. You are obsessed with making comparisons to your own experiences. Cristobal is on a different path than Sark.

I don't know anything about anything, but I think Oregon should be highly regarded this year. They have the best QB and return several good, experienced OL. They ran the ball just fine against us in OT. I like their tailback, too. We have to stop pretending it's all luck or smoke and mirrors.
The schedule doesn't break easy for them, but you only have to be a little bit better than each team on your schedule to post a pretty good record.
I don't know how much we want Rosengarten, but he's almost certainly going to Oregon. It feels like we were pretty late to the party, they are good salesmen, and even good, smart kids make bad decisions. Hell, look at Bru McCoy. Or all the guys that keep going to USC even if we have mountains of data showing that USC doesn't develop players very well.

What the fuck, reason on the recruiting board named after one of the top gloryhole truck stops in all of Cascadia?RealRhino said:I don't know anything about anything, but I think Oregon should be highly regarded this year. I’m a Duck’s duck, despite never having worked at a gas station, and even I think you’re being a little too optimistic. I like our tailback as well, Verdell is looking way faster, but he’s not good enough yet to have a rival praise him.
Our schedule really fucks us, but if you can’t win on the road then you don’t deserve to tease us to 3/4 orgasm.
Rosengarten is probably Oregon. He was here very recently, with a 4-star center from some Midwest shithole, that is also probably a Duck lean. I would imagine Ol Rog will be up in Seattle soon if he was just in Eugene.
Oregon has lost some head to head battles against y’all but I think that’s been overstated, especially when Oregon goes more national. But when your HC is an offensive line guy, with a fellow Bautista supporter as his position coach, you know he’s gonna clean up on OL recruiting. I don’t trust that chubby Cuban on too much yet, but I’m not going to question his OL acumen when Saban wanted him to be his main recruiter and OL coach. Cristobalz may wind up being a bust, I’m not sold after being exposed to such coaching geniuses as Lubick, but he’s not looking too bad at this moment.
Also, fuck you. -
UW lost to Oregon because of special teams. It wasn't just our fucking terrible kicker missing the game winning field goal. It was our terrible coverage units giving them short field after short field to work with. They couldn't drive the length of the field and score TD's on UW with consistency. It was the short fields that they took advantage of that even allowed them to stay in the game.RealRhino said:I don't know anything about anything, but I think Oregon should be highly regarded this year. Offensively, UW out gained them with Jake Browning and no Hunter Bryant and no Myles Gaskin. Those were our two biggest weapons on offense and both weren't on the field. Chris Petersen is a slow strategy motherfucker. He redshirted all the Freshman linebackers so our special teams coverage units were trash and he redshirted all of the freshman D-lineman so we lacked beef on the interior D-line. Those things won't be problems this season or seasons to come. Petersen hurt us in the short term last season for the benefit of the program in the long term. By no means does Oregon getting a super lucky win over UW, at home, after a bye week, mean they are a legit contender this season. They're not.
Jimmy Lake did have a bad OT by not having a heavy goal line D-line package on the field to stop the run against an obvious run-first team, but the game should have already been won by UW rather easily long before that.
As long as Rosengarten takes that OV to UW, he'll be a Dawg. -
UWs special teams out played Oregon’s. Oregon missed the same field goal as UW and fumbled a kickoff giving UW a touchdown. Short fields for tds? Oregon’s 3 regulation td drives were 88, 75 and 44 yards (after a long kick return). “Short field after short field” lol. Great revisionist history thoughStrongArmCobra said:
