I don't get the uproar really. I mean he's had success at Montana and had a much better resume than Robinson did before being hired.

No, Tinkle isn't a bad hire. He had some pretty good teams at Montana but he didn't exactly set the world on fire. I think he's a solid basketball coach but you have to be Dick/Tony Bennett special to dig the beavs out of that dumpster fire. I was joking about the 3 years and he'll probably do a fine job for a while, but do I see an overweight guy named Wayne Tinkle winning recruiting battles with Alford, Miller, Sendek, Boyle, etc.? Not likely. You can be a good coach and still not succeed in corvallis.

If he makes an NIT in the next three years, he probably gets an extension. If he makes one measly NCAA Tournament, he will get a statue and the arena named after him.
