It's that time a year...poor downtrodden teachers

Their salaries/benefits are online for all to see. Great pay and benefits with a lot of time off (also they need to stop with the bullshit about how hard they have to work all summer and that it's not paid).

Just yesterday I chatted with a teacher and his also teacher wife who retired a couple of years ago. They said they are really enjoying the summer at the second home on Hood Canal.

Credit the teachers union for an excellent job keeping the narrative alive to the point you'll be met with scorn to even question it.

The ugly truth is that teaching, even in "good" school districts, is a sh*tty job. With no ability to enforce classroom discipline the teacher is at the mercy of whether they get a monster/monsters in their class that make it impossible to actually teach. If you want to teach and you are good at it, your seeking out a private school. That just pisses off the dazzler who supports an orderly classroom, it is just not a voting issue for him.

If you're entrenched in the system with seniority, cushiest job known to man. Impossible to fire a union teacher.

Feel bad for the youngsters just getting started as teachers. They are still naive to the scam and actually think they can help kids.

If you don't give a phuck about children and like being an incompetent drone, then a tenured teacher is the way to go. I worked summers as a member of the International Brotherhood of Chemical Workers while in college and law school. Just a soul sucking job that paid me more than I got my first year out of law school with a Big 8 accounting firm. The union spent a ton of time protecting the bottom 10% of the workers. Some great guys worked there. A lot of veterans. Worked with a vet who flew a Huey in Vietnam and was shot through his thigh. Asked him why he wasn't flying copters in the US instead of working as a drone. Said he couldn't stand the thought of flying. PTSD. Plant is now gone.

Also, no one seems to care that millwrights, mechanics and carpenters have to buy their own tools. I haven't seen a tool supply drive sponsored by the local news like they have every year for school supplies. And why did kids need a new pack pack every year? Why do they need one at all? When did backpacks for kindergarteners become a thing?

Don't worry, JBH will be working hard on tuition vouchers for private schools. She is feared by the teacher unions. It's in all her ads.

Teachers simply teach a standardized test. It’s a fucking joke. They can’t go outside the curriculum at all. Here kids read this text and take a test. Oh and Friday is movie day.

I’m hearing they have to spend all summer doing lesson plans…staff? True?

Kids know who the shitty teachers are because they talk about them to peers and parents alike.

But there really is nothing that can be done to discipline them. Retirement is the only remedy.

When our kids were in grade school they would send home the supplies list. They would always ask those who could to buy extra of certain items for the less fortunate kids. Many of us did.

The reason for backpacks when my kids were in school was because they give kids no time between class to go to their locker. MS and HS they never used them.

They shut down schools for a year and me as a homeowner never got a refund on the taxes I paid. So fuck off with that nonsense

Have never needed a cop or a fire department in 47 years either. I get absolutely nothing from these lazy fucks

Maybe the cops stopped your house from being robbed. Go to NE Portland and leave your car and see what happens. Geezus you are a dump phuck.

You asked three separate questions. All about backpacks. I gave you a reason why MS & HS need them because they don't use their lockers.

Yes, there are no lockers for kindergarten and grade school kids so a backpack is necessary. How long ago did you have kids in school, if you ever did?

The amount of materials they are given daily necessitates the need. And yes, they need a new one nearly every year because they get pretty beat up and kids do graduate from Dora the Explorer to Marvel and eventually to their favorite color with no characters.

Glad I could help you out here Damone.

If you want to earn money during the summer in your chosen profession, choose something other than teaching.

    It’s not hard.

Was it a surprise to these people that having summer off also meant that you’d make less money than a surgeon or an investment banker?

Sorry I just don’t buy these stories of teachers going broke because they’re spending all of their money on school supplies for their students. If my wife came home and said she needed to spend two grand on pencils and notebooks for her elementary schoolers I’d tell her she needed to find a new job, because this one sounds pretty expensive.

Parents should buy crayons, markers, pencils, pens, paper etc. The school should provide some of that too, but when I was a kid, that was expected. Yes, it might cost $30. If you've got the money for your fucking $60,000 Tahoe and $700 IPhone and hoop earrings, drudge up a few shekels for their education.

Why are they entitled to hundreds of millions of dollars when they weren't working? What you're saying makes no sense.

They all got paid for doing very little. IRS is still backed up on processing returns although they all were "working from home" and getting paid. Same with the Oregon DMV. They all got paid and the Department is still phucked up and backed up.

My kids went to private school kindergarten so I can’t speak to PS. They carried their lunch, water bottle, school folder because they had homework and writing supplies in their backpack daily.

I’m just here to educate you Damone. Hope this helps.

Water bottle? Wtf? Don't they have drinking fountains at school anymore?
