Cats are way more badass than dogs. Fucking housecats win fights vs dumb doogs all the time...a doog vs a tiger is like a Sark road trip to Zona

I like a good dog better, but cats get a bad rep. You are right about cats winning fights against dogs. I've seen it happen quite a few times.

I don't think it's the badassery of this cat thats getting attention. Our 65 pound mutt is terrified of our 10 pound cat, and for good reason. He's put the dog in his place many times. That's not that unusual.

What makes this stand out was the heroism of the cat. Cats tend to be experts at self preservation, but I've never seen one use their powers to save someone else before.

I had a cat kill a raccoon one time. Feisty as fuck.

Agree to some extent. Cats are territorial animals, and while they won't ever have undying devotion to their owners like dogs do, they do value the owners living in "their" territory tremendously. I'm sure you've had cats kill birds and leave the corpse on the doormat for their owners to eat.

It's true cats can't be trained as effective guards, and domesticated ones are pretty small, but I think they definitely would do anything in their power to help their distressed owner. Just don't expect one to stop a home invasion.
