After making racist statement, S.F. school board member apologizes
A San Francisco school board member apologized Tuesday after she made a racist statement, saying one of the biggest challenges in educating Black and brown students was their “unstable family environments” and “lack of parental encouragement to focus on learning.”“From my very limited exposure in the past four months to the challenges of educating marginalized students especially in the black and brown community, I see one of the biggest challenges as being the lack of family support for those students. Unstable family environments caused by housing and food insecurity along with lack of parental encouragement to focus on learning cause children to not be able to focus on or value learning,” Hsu responded in part to the question. “That makes teachers’ work harder because they have to take care of emotional and behavioral issues of students before they can teach them. That is not fair to the teachers.”https://www.sfchronicle.com/sf/article/After-making-racist-statement-S-F-school-board-17315991.phpAnother example of the left just dying to have that "honest" discussion about race.

As if being offended is the paramount concern in any community, over housing, food, and the rest. FMFYFE
And we all know who's fault it really is, don't we?
I don't think I've ever witnessed anything as cynical, demeaning and outright racist in my whole life.
P.S. What tears a family apart faster than outsourcing parenting to the state? As we complain about broken homes and families, let's all remember who fosters it.
You think the Obamas ever had to face that kind of behavior when they were sending their kids to Sidwell Friends? Fuck no. But Obama sure wanted all the parents who send their kids to public school to have to live with that shit.
This seemed odd to me- there are spaces but we need to go into a lottery? The lottery wouldn't be held until the following month. I asked the Asst Superintendent- So someone could move in from another state and have the same chance as our daughter even though we had lived in and paid city of Decatur taxes for 10 years? A very hesitant "yes" was the answer. We started interviewing Catholic schools the next week. Best decision ever. Irony alert- Private school was much more integrated than our local kindergarten/grade school.
