    Pretty easy to stop Bitcoin. Just ban it for commercial and retail use in the United States. If you can't convert Bitcoin into US dollars to buy anything, then it's only value would be for isolated black market transactions or for illegal over shore use. The same government that can destroy the US dollar would have no problem destroying another intangible item of value.
