So I've heard this speech a bunch of times from a bunch of boomers, and most of the time their kid didn't do CS/EE at Georgia Tech. They did a business/fluff thing at a school like Georgia state and they think it isn't a microscopic step up from the liberal arts people they thumb their nose at.

It wasn't long ago and the latest liberal outrage was corporations and how they somehow owed spoiled brats a living. 100's of thousands protesting around the country. Sit in's, violent protests, demands. They thought (and many still do) that society owed them what their parents have. All they had to do was prepare themselves and they didn't do it.

Its liberals and their devil spawn with English Lit and Ancient Sand Script degrees that have nothing to offer. Nothing was expected of them but blue ribbon participation ribbons so why would anyone expect that they are driven to succeed? They made horrible decisions and spent 180K on a degree that is not marketable and in no way is going to pay off student loan debt. When you are interviewing people like that it makes a difference on how they are perceived.

I agree with you and have hired several hundred individuals who interview well and seem to have a work ethic but had degrees that did not translate. My own son has a bio systems engineering degree but is in Logistics. He had the work ethic and the brains to get the engineering degree and people recognized that and he has done well at an early age. He and his friends are way ahead of the curve when compared to many they grew up with and the examples I provided are only two. I can cite many more. A young woman with a Marine Biology degree was complaining to us how she can't pay off 100K making a living earning $23K a yr in her chosen profession. She knew that going in but she thinks its unfair. Marine Biologists don't make shit and never have. On the flip side we know a kid who didn't want the debt and loved working on cars. He worked as an apprentice for 5 years and opened his own business. He is kicking ever loving ass right now and he is only 27. Smart kid.

This is a real problem and the smart kids see that if they get their shit together they can have real opportunities to succeed. Its not an emotional or anecdotal thing, its a fact.

My son is in engineering. My daughter in Marketing. Their friends are in finance, marketing, IT, economics, accounting, etc. There are way more than 2 "programs" that gets one where they want to go.

The left side of the aisle has a majority that are whining for student loan forgiveness. No one on the right side of the aisle is asking for that. It wasn't long ago and the latest liberal outrage was corporations and how they somehow owed spoiled brats a living. 100's of thousands protesting around the country. Sit in's, violent protests, demands. They thought (and many still do) that society owed them what their parents have. All they had to do was prepare themselves and they didn't do it.

Its liberals and their devil spawn with English Lit and Ancient Sand Script degrees that have nothing to offer. Nothing was expected of them but blue ribbon participation ribbons so why would anyone expect that they are driven to succeed? They made horrible decisions and spent 180K on a degree that is not marketable and in no way is going to pay off student loan debt. When you are interviewing people like that it makes a difference on how they are perceived.

I agree with you and have hired several hundred individuals who interview well and seem to have a work ethic but had degrees that did not translate. My own son has a bio systems engineering degree but is in Logistics. He had the work ethic and the brains to get the engineering degree and people recognized that and he has done well at an early age. He and his friends are way ahead of the curve when compared to many they grew up with and the examples I provided are only two. I can cite many more. A young woman with a Marine Biology degree was complaining to us how she can't pay off 100K making a living earning $23K a yr in her chosen profession. She knew that going in but she thinks its unfair. Marine Biologists don't make shit and never have. On the flip side we know a kid who didn't want the debt and loved working on cars. He worked as an apprentice for 5 years and opened his own business. He is kicking ever loving ass right now and he is only 27. Smart kid.

This is a real problem and the smart kids see that if they get their shit together they can have real opportunities to succeed. Its not an emotional or anecdotal thing, its a fact.
