What I love are the commericials for alarm and home security companies who always depict the bad guys as white guys with five days of stubble and stocking cap.

My takeaway from this thread is that “I’m offended that my race is underrepresented in media. When they do show people of my race it is in an inaccurate, cartoonish, stereotyping portrayal as criminals.”

It's a commentary on woke corporate pandering. Dumbass.
Really? Thank you for explaining it to me. Very astute observation by you, on that unique observation actually being commentary about race in commercials.
You're a fucktard. You still missed the point.

It’s okay, man. You don’t have to try to hurt my feelings with your brutal insults, just because you thought only a genius like you can decode obvious subtext.

I liked the juxtaposition of the serious “not enough white people in commercials” with the lighthearted “there are too many white burglars in commercials” and thought I’d marry them into one sentence. But it seems to have offended you for unknown reasons, and for that I apologize. I realize that some people are more sensitive than others, maybe you’re dealing with recent emotional trauma, or you walked in on Joe Pesci giving your mom the salami and the Wet Bandits are a trigger for you. I’ll try to be more considerate of your delicate disposition.

I actually like the diversity in commercials these days and frankly I'm glad that the dumb white dude, once upon a time in nearly every commercial with a white dude, the one being corrected by the wife, is now a thing of the past. Black women in Dodge RAM trucks is an actual target market that I'm too dumb to understand. Apparently.

    “Whitewashing” black people
The other problem is that all of these ads showing black people aren’t really representative of black people at all.

Isn’t it just a little bit racist of advertisers to tell us that people of color must walk, talk, dress and behave like white people, and partake in activities favored by whites, in order to be successful?

If I didn’t know better, I’d say it almost feels like many of these commercials were written with white people in mind, and then black actors were hired for the sake of “diversity.”

We see it all the time: the upper-middle-class family wearing upper-middle-class clothes, living in an upper-middle-class home and doing upper-middle-class things, like attending piano recitals, or gaming with pals on razor-thin laptops, or having a backyard birthday party complete with pink princess decorations and a tent and giant bounce-house.

Is this what everyone looks like?

Of course, a change like this would require advertisers to have real respect for different races and cultures, and a genuine desire to give more than lip service to the prime directives of diversity and inclusivity.

    Far-fetched, I know.

For now, the only thing “equitable” about all this is how equally insulting it is to everyone.

What’s happened to white males in TV commercials?
While we’re on the subject of equity in advertising, why is it that TV commercials portray white men as feminized, stupid, stay-at-home dopes who can’t make it through the day without the help of women, children, and people of color?

Anyway the industry will tell you its not your imagination

    So woke pandering…like I said.

This is funny though. Showing black people as upper middle class, not sagging their pants, no weaves, no fighting with titties popping out and flip flops flying off, no outlandish nails, and speaking normal English, is racist. Lol. JFC.

Imagine that Justice Thomas ain't an authentic black man according to the alleged President of the United States and those who voted for him.

The funny thing is that these people in the commercials are props. These companies are still targeting whites 35-55.

They’re simply hoping to get white woke to buy a Jeep or a truck because seeing a black person drive one on tv makes it Ok, be it consciously or sub consciously.

And their fellow white woke friends won’t hassle them for it.

Dementia too. We still got those. In fact the one in the WH runs every hour on the hour. Except weekends in Delaware.
