I'm sure there was no pressure.... Chinese money is great though!

Nets looked pretty good Thursday night against Philly. Harden has turned into a fat tub of goo.

Great to see someone put $3.5 billion into the future of New York. Once upon a time I would have said move them to Seattle. That will happen as soon as Portland gets a major league baseball team.

Putin had Prokhorov do it three years ago, about two years after he was sanctioned by the US through CAATSA. Which did absolutely nothing to harm the Mafiya, and allowed Prokhorov to make a killing on the sale. He was bored with the team anyway, as it took time away from his hobby of cocaine and hookers in the French Riviera.

Prokhorov ran for president as Putin’s opponent. Some cynics might say he was the Kremlin’s plant token opposition to add legitimacy in an election that never actually counts votes. I found his platform of “I am tall and rich, yet I admire Vladimir Putin who is much better than me in every conceivable way, and a modern day Superman. You are lucky to have the privilege to vote for such a man” very refreshing. He received a medal from Putin for his honesty and was allowed to keep his wealth and immune system as a reward for his honor.

The guy who bought the Nets is an American raised, Yale educated, Canadian citizen, who was born in Taiwan after his family fled the communist takeover. He’s obviously friendly with the Chinese since he’s the cofounder of Alibaba, so it’s your choice if you prefer Westernized Chinese oligarchs over Russian kleptocrats. Not much of a difference.
