    Obama stated in 2015 that Ukraine is 'outside of our core interests.' I'm not sure who to 'blame' for this mess, but part of the insane media attention to the Russiagate hoax certainly plays a part. Putin is obviously a thug and not to be trusted either. It's more complicated and nuanced than orange man bad or America is weak or saber rattly. I blame Europe. Let them deal with it. If we had continued on our path to energy independence we might have a better hand to play.
