2-3 Olympics ago, the average skater was in their early 20s, now you have 15 year olds skating around. Looking for the “hotties” in figure skating probably will land you in jail.

My assumption is that the money in ice skating is all gone. Back in the day, my wife showed up at the dinner table with two tickets to the Ice Capades in Portland. They were a $100 bucks a piece and in the third level at the Rose Garden. This was in April 1992 after the Albertville, France Olympics. Kristi Yamaguchi won the gold for the US with Nancy Kerrigan getting the bronze. The place was packed and it was a pretty good show with lots of male and female Olympians making good to great money. There was some money to be made by coming back for a try at a second gold and hyping your place in the Ice Capades or other skating shows.

Today? Is there an Ice Capades or something similar? If there is no money in skating, you are going to just get young kids who can put in the work because of helicopter moms.
