You know, I like these national offers. Not since Rick has UW thrown offers around the country. In recent years good players have left the west coast for such amazing destinations as Minnesota, Michigan State and South Carolina because they want to leave home and try something new. Why can't good players from the Midwest or South want to leave home and do something new? You have a recruiting staff. Gauge initial interest and the kids wanderlust and either move on or go full throttle if he seems to want to leave home. Oregon has had success this way, UCLA did a nice job under Mora and USC has always been a national pull. Also, if you truly trust your evaluations there is no reason with a little effort that UW can't find the future top five players from the MAC, Sun Belt, or AAC and convince them that UW is a better offer than what they've got. There are good top end players in those leagues that the power conferences missed. Gaines, Sample and Jaylon Johnson were all headed to the MW and were major contributors to a team that played in three straight NY6 games.
