Interesting write up. It is a little old "2014" but still informative. One very intriguing part says there is a network of bag men that work with each university. Not top shelf boosters but guys that deal in lesser amounts and taking care of the everyday stuff for recruits/players. If they decide the coach has to go they will pull their support and let the coach fail by having to recruit above board. I almost wonder if that happened with Jimmy Lake with how sudden and severely our? recruiting went into the toilet.
"This is, however, how a coach becomes a lame duck. If a majority of bag men want a particular coach out, they’ll just dry up funds. ”The coach won’t know exactly when we decide to make that happen, but they’ve got a good idea. Then we get to see just how damn good a recruiter he really is."
