1, there was a lot of ramen being eaten when I was there. 2, cutting the football program and then complaining about not enough peoples of colors is the height of hypocrisy.
When I took a tour of University of Portland they handed me a packet of things, one of which was the diversity stats. My mom looked at it and said "wow, 23% African American. I didn't realize this school was so diverse." The admissions counselor said "Actually, that's the number of students not the percentage".

I still don't understand why diversity is only classified by race. A better measure now would be class/family income IMO.
I suggested that once to a few young people after they begged me for my opinion. Then a fat Lateeena said, "No offense, but..." and made a half assed argument about discrimination.
Translation: They like being able to get in to good schools with 1,000 SAT scores (or 1,500 or whatever the hell the equivalent is now) and don't feel like competing with lower class whitey.
