Parity would be nice but it's not necessary. The question Is how to make more than two teams feel they have enough of a chance that it's worth playing. I dont care if the same team usually wins as long as there are more than 2-3 meaningful, competitive games in the whole fucking season.
What's happening now is not working. The current system is not a playoff. It's an invitational tournament. Give bids to conference winners, or go back to the traditional bowl system with winners of the NY6 games entering the playoff.
The best system would be let everyone play their crappy season for 10 games - then take every poll out there to rank all the teams 1-128 and put everyone in the playoff. 1-64 get home games, 65-128 visitors. Takes 7 weeks to determine the last team standing.
Start the playoffs the first week of December, Christmas off unless the University of Tel-Aviv in it, then take Hannukah off, finish the week before the Stupor Bowel.

Agree, liked the historically more regional bowl games and think the NY6 games should be the entry games for the expanded playoffs… doing that might also help with regional balance from a media coverage standpoint as well especially if Las Vegas in addition to the Rose Bowl are included in the NY6 lineup.

Each game is one more chance for an upset.
