So many good choices here. Coin flip between Duvall and R. Lee.

As good as Duvall and R.Lee were, hard not to vote for Jack, ...no Viper, Goose, Iceman, and no Lou Gosset Jr..."May-o-naise"...

Most of these won or were nominated for Oscars. My one heavy bias inclusion is Donald Sutherland.

I'd be tempted to go Tom Berenger over Willem Dafoe in Platoon.

Sadly, nobody makes gifs about Platoon it seems but I'd go with "Death...whadda y'all know about death?"

    I'll admit I'm not a Platoon expert.

Agree on Berenger in Platoon. He sold that character perfectly.

This was a hard vote. I could've gone with R Lee or Nicholson.

I quite literally flipped a coin between Ermey and Duvall.

    Seriously.

I've watched the opening 20 minutes of FMJ a dozen times at least. It's simply the best, funniest, shit I've even seen. And it goes on for a long time - which is why I had to go with R. Lee instead of Duvall.

The jelly donut scene really sealed it for me.

    Wasn't R Emery a REAL Marine?

I agree that part of the movie is must see every time.

Can't remember when I last watched the Vietnam part

If memory serves, he was initially a technical advisor for FMJ, and Kubrick put him into the role because he was so authentic while training the actors. Was also outstanding (and similarly red-assed) in The Boys From Company C, which is where I first saw him.
