I actually don't disagree with Eklund here. The rumors of Mario spreading racist allegations are pretty well-documented at this point, and are about as close to "fact" as you'll ever get with anything as veiled as off-the-record conversations between coaches and recruits. That the other conference coaches despised him is also pretty common knowledge.

And yeah, it's obviously the usual doogman #profileincourage to only assert that Pete and Lake didn't do enough to combat it after they're both gone, but it's still true nonetheless. Mario gamed the shit out of them on the recruiting trail and they were completely feckless against it.

This. They sat down with Sa'vell Smalls and went through the roster, showing him how few players had two black parents. This was evidence of OKG being racist.

Jimmy's responsibility to help put out those fires didn't start when he became the HC. Cristobal spread that shit through dogged, relentless effort, and the UW coaches evidently didn't combat it with that same level of determination. It should have never been a hard message to counter.
